I wonder how long before the Chinese are drawing up an "austerity plan" for the US.

An intriguing question.

Study Sino/Soviet relations circa 1936-1957

It would indeed be interesting to know what kind of "friend" parts his enemy’s hair at the exact best spot for the axe.

But what do I know? Surely they all love Obama and stuff.

Greece should take care of its own problems, why should others help out?

Greece joined the E.U. in 1981. I take it you know what the E.U. is?

It looks like the EU wants Greece to impose "austerity measures" in the middle of a deep recession (Greece's unemployment rate is over 10😵. This is the standard way rich countries treat Third World ones (i.e. the Eastern Asian crisis of the 1990's) but the Greeks must have thought that being in the Western Boys' Club entitled them to be treated like the G-8 countries.

Obviously these policies are aimed at protecting the interests of banks and big debtors while the Greek economy is expected to crash in order to make it "competitive" in the long run.
