The group has power because they recruit people with power or on their way to power. That they are trying to implement some sort of version of a Nazi Germany or that they plot to kill 80% of the world population is completely ludicrous, though.
If anything they are about discussing and maintaining the key role of Western societies in the world. Whether that's good or bad, I think that depends on the means through which this is achieved.
I read a fascinating piece by Umberto Eco (Six Walks in the Fictional Woods) about conspiracy theories. He actually traced the antisemitic conspiracy used to fuel genocide by the Nazi party links all the back to some trashy fiction novel the Alexander Dumas ripped off an older unknown fictional author.
This looks to be more of the same.
People are so itchy to have someone to blame.
Just as an FYI: If you ever find yourself holding a torch or pitchfork outside someone's house; that may be a good day to stop and reconsider the direction your life is going.

The original post makes no mention of conspiracy theories. The Bilderberg Group is a fact. It does exist. They meet every year. Last year was here in Toronto.
