@averagejoe1 saidThe nation has changed substantially in every respect over 250 years, despite the kicking and screaming of antediluvian dimbulbs such as yourself.
Been doing fine for 250 years,,,,tell us why it has to change, please? The “ social arrangement” I believe you call it?
Or haven't you noticed?
The nation couldn't have survived to today if it kept on as if it were 1776 decade after decade. I can't even imagine the depths of self-delusion that's being reflected by your statement.
This is like talking to a six year old.
@averagejoe1 saidYou accuse others of “group think”, whilst you wave your MAGA hat at the big truck festival?
Apologies, I am really not given to opening random links. I am only here for one reason, to see how libs can think like they do. The group thing, dependence, the welcome govt influence on their person, equal at end of day, such as that.

Come off it. Kettle, black, etc.
Anyhoo… this watery province knot of yours…
@soothfast saidCapitalism has been changed ? Buy low, sell high? What “changed substantially’ since pre-Obama? Are not all elements, though eroded over the last few years, still intact? What changed? Can’t people still get rich, though the rich are in your sights!?

@averagejoe1 saidJoe - this is nonsense. Nowhere do I mention anything about fairness.
Here is a post by Wildgrass....I am not accusing or demeaning him, but I think that since liberals will not say what they truly think, like we all do, I have to read between the lines sometimes. So I am only repeating him. In this post, he says....".....that (having that debt ) delayed his marriage and buying a home". He did pay off his loan, but he is speaking in ge ...[text shortened]... r stage. It's a good idea.
Billions in tax forgiveness for billionaires is far more problematic.
Read the original post from that thread on student loan forgiveness. It was written a guy who goes by the RHP handle "averagejoe1"
Please absorb this, and with a fresh slant on govt-paid tuition, how about some cogent thoughts on the unfair imbalance. Some among us are REAL big into things being fair and equal, equality, such as that - averagejoe1
That is the guy who thinks that student loan forgiveness is unfair and unequal. In his thread. If you really want help "understand stuf" then that's they person you should be asking questions of. Not me. Leave me out of it, I made no assertions one way or another about fairness.
I stand by what I said that tax cuts for billionaires (when government is way way in the red and has no plans to cut spending) is far more problematic than student loan forgiveness. It's not in any way about fairness, it's about government incentivizing the wrong things (money) and penalizing the right things (work).
@averagejoe1 saidYou think all elements are still intact? Ask the owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, a capitalist who succeeded when he stole hundreds of millions from taxpayers to build a for-profit stadium for his for-profit basketball team to sell $12 Bud lights.

It's cronyism of course. The extreme increase in gov't spending for no apparent reason. No war, no depression, no reason. When businesses win by convincing government to give them money or subsidies, instead of convincing consumers to buy their product, then capitalism dies slowly and painfully.
Shrink federal spending. Increase taxes. Balance the budget. That's the only solution.
@wildgrass saidStart a thread on it.

My post above refers to Your Saying that because govt is not heeeelllpping you with yyour school debt (which they have nothing to do with, of course, it having been a voluntary undertaking by you. ) it means a guy has to wait too long for marriage and for a house. That is what you were saying in your post. You are the saying that because the government won’t help you, it is making your life difficult. Absolutely unbelievable. If I were you I would be upset with my answer, as well. Because you know you should not say something like that as a grown-up.

My post was clear. Yours is gibberish and it has nothing to do with what I wrote.

@wildgrass saidYou said. "Having the debt delayed marriage and home ownership." I interpret this as being upset at a late start in life because you had to pay a debt to college. (All choices of wild grass).

You are definitely upset, and given the nature of this discussion, you are saying, in simple terms, that you feel like you would not have had the late start in life if the govt were involved in your loan/college choices. That, they should help you.
Or, then, what Did you mean?
@averagejoe1 saidThat's your fault, not his.
You said. "Having the debt delayed marriage and home ownership." I interpret this
@shallow-blue saidBut,What is my fault,Shallow?. You are as disconnected from posts as is Sonhouse.
That's your fault, not his.
@averagejoe1 saidNope. Not upset. Your quotes of my comments don't indicate ire at all.

You are projecting my "feelings" like a psychologist but the words I have written don't support what you have surmised. It's a nice try though. I know you have to keep spinning the wheel of your narrative that the libs are bad and corporate welfare is justified. You do you, but please don't contort the meaning of my posts beyond what they are. If I wanted to say I'm upset, then I would have said that, But I didn't. Because I'm not.

What was the ‘thing’ that delayed marriage and first home? Not a difficult question. All my questions are easy. And easier to comprehend than your post above.
You got this.
