Don't worry, it's not the first time an atrocity like this has been comited by US and British troops.

Care to expand a little on that point?
BTW- I'm English and know our past well, but this war was all about "Hearts and Minds"

Objective achieved?

Innocent until proven guilty. And if guilty they will pay for murder. And that's how you tell the good guys from the bad guys.

So what do you think their punishment will be IF found guilty?, and should the trial be held in Iraq in front of the Iraqi people or will it be on US Sovereign soil?

If found guilty of premeditated murder I think they should get the death penalty. I have no opinion about the trial but I think it's possible that they could legally be tried by both the Marine Corps in a courts martial and by the Iraqi government in a civilian court.

I'm not too clued up on US Miltitary law, but has the death penalty ever been handed down by the Court Marshall in the "modern age" (at least since WW11)?

I know it's hard not to, but please don't judge our entire military as the same as these knuckleheads who think that having a gun and training gives them power. It does, but not to be misused.

That said, I think life in the brigg is more likely, and probably worse than death.

I haven't judge the whole US Army/Navy. I did start of saying that the US Marine corp must be very proud, meaning that alot of their good work over "other conflicts" (i disagree strongly with the invasion of iraq) will be undone.

I can see past the simple hatred of your nation, and again appreciated alot of things you have done well for the world. Just at this moment, your current Commander and Chief is making one bad decision after the other. In fact to come out and say "i regret things i've said in the past" in a press conference earlier this week, vindicates all the "pacifists" who said his language was too strong, and will push away your mutual friends.....

Too bad you haven't got an election very very soon, the world needs him to vacate the most powerfulest job in the world for all our good.

I don't know. You asked for my opinion of what punishment they should get. However, first they are entitled to due process even though many in the world and on this site will proclaim them guilty just because they are U.S. Marines. And second of all, if they are found guilty many will happily condemn all U.S. military as murderers, even though those same people would never consider condemning all Muslims as murderers because of a few killers, or all of any other group murderers because of a few killers. If true it is a criminal act and should be treated as such. If true is is a failure in the immediate chain of command, however, and not a failure beyond the immediate chain of command. It is the duty of the officers and non-coms on hand to maintain control of their peronnel in each specific, local situation.

Very true Delmer, they are entitled to a fair trial and if found guilty then an "appropiate" punsihment should be handed down to them whatever that is.

But let's not forget that all the Pro Americans (on this site) were calling for the death penalty for the 20th bomber of 9/11 .
Althought the lost of life is is greater on 9/11 hundred fold, the act of taking innocent life still occurred. Althought i have no doubt that if found guilty they will spend a considerable time behind bars, i just want to get the views of pro americans to what their would be sentence would be, or what they would like their sentences to be?

Well God damn...

I just posted a post on this a few hours ago: "Oh deary, deary me..."
It seems obvious that people are not reading everything they should be reading.

I put the link to the BBC article on it as well!

pffffft.
Now I am insulted.
