Is anyone else enjoying watching Gingrich flounder as his "position" on health care reform comes under scrutiny?

No more allegations of flip-flopping for Newt Gingrich, please. He says his ideas are going to be “evolving.”

“The challenges that we face are so big, that no one has the solutions. And we’re going to have to run a campaign where ideas keep evolving,” the former U.S. House speaker said.

He said that would “drive the media crazy, because they’ll want to play gotcha” and say his position had changed.

Gingrich, talking to reporters after his speech, expressed his frustration that his comments about health care on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” show were interpreted as showing support for President Obama’s health-care reform.

Gingrich said his initial proposals will be bare-bones ideas, and he wants input from Americans. “We’re entering an age when the challenges are so big, that we have to use the Internet and to use talk radio … to get many people helping us think things through so that they get used to the idea that they’re part of the process and it’s not being imposed upon them by Washington.”

How is the evil media playing "gotcha" politics? How was the Meet the Press interview question a "gotcha" moment? It should have been a softball! Then, Gingrich backtracks and argues that his answer did not imply that the Ryan plan was "radical social engineering," and that he was not in favor of implementing a "sliding scale" plan to require that "all Americans take responsibility," all to maintain the appearance of conformity with the mainstream GOP platform; and then he writes off his backflips as an attempt to "seek input from the American people"? Plus, you've got to see this beauty:

All I can say is, this should be an entertaining campaign.

All politics today is about 'gotcha'. The two parties don't know any other kind -- like with Democrats proposing to eliminate a tax break for 'Big Oil' exploration when more oil exploration supposedly leads to greater supply and lower prices. They count on Republican opposition so that they can trumpet that Republicans are in the pocket of 'Big Oil'.

Gotcha.

I think perhaps the sole reason to support the Tea Party is that their main plank -- reducing spending -- is laudable on its merits and has no 'gotcha' element about it. Of course, people are so unused to a party that takes a position and stands by it, they are not quite sure how to react. They are easily distracted by the barrage of shiny objects that get thrown out there.

I respect Gingrinch saying, 'I don't know,' regarding healthcare. It is the beginning of wisdom to admit how much you don't know. But I imagine if you had Newt 1:1, he would assert that he knows what to do theoretically, but he doesn't know how to wade through the heavy 'gotcha' crossfire to get the masses to hear and accept the rational message.

He hasn't got enough layers of kevlar to do that. You need a Reagan.

I would have given him more credibility if he had confessed that he wasn't sure about the right course of action before testing both sides of the fence a few times.

I remain unconvinced that Gingrich knows the "what" (to do about health care reform) but not the "how." That would imply that his comments on the "what" had some trace of consistency, which by the looks of the past 48 hours, is virtually impossible.
