Let’s talk religion!!!

OK - lets' do that.

This virus doesn't care if you're a Jew, Muslim, Christian or a worshipper of spotted owls. If you contract COVID 19, and your body isn't equipped to fight it off, you will die. A vaccine will give your body the tools to fight off this virus, and decrease the chance you'll spread it to others.

I will give thanks to You ...[text shortened]... sending our prayers after they're dead, might be a little more in keeping with God's intentions?? 😲
Tell us at what point in your scenario the scales tilt to where we give up our Freedoms. And could you and Biden promise us that you will not try to take away any more of our freedoms, that this will be the last one?? A fair question, given that we are real close to that 'scale tilt'.

Wrong - No one is holding a gun to anyone's head, and forcing them to get a vaccine. Everyone has the freedom to refuse.

They are holding a gun to their head if you need to get vaccinated to keep your job. Get jabbed or you and your kids can live under a bridge.

Is it reasonable to get a covid test weekly if you work in the medical field?

I had covid. My energy was drained, but my wife and I recovered just fine. She did better with it than me. Just as I have been saying, Covid is no death sentence. A vast majority of people who get sick end up recovering.

I even was even coughing up stuff out of my lungs before getting covid due to allergies. No hospitalization, just a week or 2 in the house.
I will disclose as well, I was hospitalized with a rough case of it for 13 nights. Not fun, you are right about no energy. Still recovering.
It is reasonable to have all nurses tested, but I have a problem with the government running our lives. It is not in the Constitution. The hospital has every right to require nurses be vaccinated or fire them. It is the biz of the hospital. Delta can say 'dont get on our plane'. Yes, I have govt problems, being an independent sort. Must've been the Ayn Rand influence. It would be fun to pull a few of the gems from her novels and debate them. IMAGINE Gary Cooper not getting-in-line with the higher ups!!!!! Did his own thing. An independent sort.

As an aside, I am over 65, and have United Health supplemental ins. Many of you write disparagingly of the govt not giving free healthcare? I know free is a big word for you, but with maybe $200K in expenses for my treatment, I paid Zilch. Zero. I am entitled (hate that word) to it as I paid into it, and get this...the supplemental, $165/month. That's it. Pay your 70-year old daddy's supplemental insurance premiums, and you won't have to scream like the ninnys do on the Forum. My 2 cents.

While a choice is always there it isn't much of one.
The same could be said about women being harassed by their boss in the work place. Those women have the right to refuse, so why do women in consensual sexual relationships with their boss complain about it? Those women always have the option to quit their jobs, yet the boss could get fired from higher management when a woman complains with enough tears.

Why do women value their jobs so much? They are willing to sleep with their bosses to keep their jobs, even if they are not attracted to him.

People will go to great lengths to keep their jobs. It often surprises me, but I have never had a really good job that pays well either. I'm sure that makes a difference.

There is not much logic in this. America has a labor shortage in many sectors, some in high paying jobs, so saying there is "not much of a choice" in taking another job is rather silly.

Your attempt to align this argument with women being sexually harassed by their boss's, doesn't pass the smell test either, since sexually harassed women don't end up in intensive care units, dying of suffocation due to exposure to a virus that has been proven to be deadly. The connection is (at best) a tiny one.

@AverageJoe1

The older you are, the more likely you will get hospitalized. I am younger and I supplement pretty heavily with vitamin D.

Obviously you have no problem with families being homeless due to not getting jabbed.

Then what is this thread about? Some here even believe that the govt should be able to require it. Some think the hospital can require it, to retain the jobs of the nurses. That amounts to a gun to the head. Yes, the hosp can require it, but should the govt be able to require it of a non-govt enterprise??
Right now we have freedom to refuse for sure. So what are we debating about? Some entity wanting to take away that freedom? Seems so.

"sexually harassed women don't end up in intensive care units, dying of suffocation due to exposure to a virus that has been proven to be deadly"

That is the risk unvaccinated people take. It is their choice. If they die that is on them. You cannot always protect people from themselves. People make all sorts of choices that could endanger their health. Some guys don't wear condoms when doing slutty women. Life is full of risks of all sorts.

So.......
Between you, averagejoe and eladar, one fact stands out.

Freedom is relative after all.
The battle for our collective freedoms is really a debate over which entity gets to hold the leash.
A longer leash means more freedom.
A shorter leash means less freedom.
But the leash is always there.

But what some of you are constantly yammering on about is really about who gets to hold the leash.

If it's a business that issues the mandates, that's ok. Airlines requiring masks, hospitals, restaurants, etc requiring vaccinations.
That satisfies the free market capitalism supporters.

If it's religion dictating the reproductive management of women, then that's ok.
It satisfies the Evangelicals.

But if it's the government, then all hell breaks loose.

That's it. Right ??

So the freedom to KILL is higher on your totem pole than mere freedom.

Freedom to kill? If you mean exist and be a possible host for a virus, yes.

@Eladar
So you, in your INFINITE wisdom knows how many patients died who didn't have to because the IDIOTS refusing the shots and still want to work on patients.

You clearly could care less about the Hippocritic oath, first do no harm.

Giving someone Covid as a health care worker is unconscionable and they SHOULD be fired.

So YOU want the freedom to KILL. There is no other way to put it.

You are such a serf. With freedom comes danger. If you want to be safe, move to China.
