The big hits in both sports are really fun to watch. It's a tough choice for me. What do you think?

I think some of the tackles when in more open field in football can be exciting, but I definitely think hockey has the win for sheer speed.

They can just fly when they get a good run on skates and when they catch someone with their head down it just makes me feel the pain just by watching it.

I like football hits more because they have a more direct impact on the outcome of the game.

Also, it just seems as though football hits are more direct and more punishing.

I like seeing the hits. Some are grounders, some are pop flys, some are homers, and some are line drives. I just don't like the extra innings.

I'm a long time admirer of American Football but the 'proper' tackling that you see in sports like Rugby Union, Rugby League and Australian Rules Football make for a superior sporting contest and a better spectacle.

Ha!...i'd like to see you put the blades on, skate over the blue line with your head down and have a 6 foot 4 defenseman smash into you at top speed. You don't see many football players wobble off the field like these guys....

I prefer cycling.

Anyways, shouldn't this be in sports?

Honestly?

If I feel like some graphic violence I prefer to watch rugby.

The fact that American football and ice hockey players wear so much protection gives it a... how should I say it? Yeah, queer feeling to the whole thing.

pfft...only wimps are able to kick the ball out bounds to avoid getting hit.

Put up boards and glass around the field and cage these guys in and see what happens.

Are you kidding? With the size and speed of football players today, if they didn't wear pads and helmets you'd have people getting killed regularly. Even with the pads American football already has more injuries than any other sport.

which is why I question the sanity of playing Australian Rules Football in outfits that would be considered skimpy for the NBA

Heck if they were tought like over in merry olde England they wouldn't get kilt. An occasional bump on the noggin maybe, but not kilt.

This counts against the appeal and dignity of American football, not for it.

I still think it's a minor miracle that Ronnie Lott never killed anyone. If you went over the middle into his secondary to try to catch a floating pass, you'd better have a good health insurance policy.
