Housing discrimination in the US

Here is something for the people who don't think critical race theory is something worth at least some consideration. Something for them to ignore, obviously.

It's John Olliver, in case you want to ignore it before you even click it. I am considerate with the personal time of ignorant people wishing to stay ignorant

Of course there is housing discrimination. If you do not have the money, you do not get the house.

Rich people can have many houses, while poor people have no place to live.

It was an interesting 30 minutes. I watched it early this morning.

What happened is truly disgusting. However, I'm not sure reparations are the way forward though.

Oliver conviently missed out lationos, Asians, Moslims, etc.
All who probably received equal treatment because of those laws that were introduced.

And if you turn up at some fancy gated community dressed like a hillbilly, I'm pretty sure you're gonna be treated more like a black than a white.

Still, I'm not sure I can see any other solutions to the problem either which won't take generations to work themselves out.

*shrugs and walks away... not my fight*

Apparently the only source of truth is comedy.

Maybe the housing discrimination is because...uhh...certain people have a habit of renting homes and apartments and trashing them before they get evicted for not paying the rent as soon as they settle in? Seems like I've heard of that happening before.

Companies take data of past experiences.

So a loan company that doesn't get paid back by certain groups will cause almost everyone in the group to suffer and be denied a loan or have to meet extra criteria etc.

Rental properties also go by past experiences too.

The funny thing about stereotypes is they are usually right. 😉

Reparations is a joke.

Yeah, seriously, when did all that start. Hair-bun libs and trans people are just wild about the comedians. And DO get their news there.

This will go right over their heads Dood. Prob cause several have actually trashed such places. Makes it hard for real estate investors to make some real money.....But the big picture , we do make money. Just gotta take the bad with the good.

What you just described is illegal discrimination:

"The federal Fair Housing Acts apply to all aspects of the landlord-tenant relationship. A landlord may not:

set more restrictive standards for selecting tenants or refuse to rent to members of certain groups.

It's not discrimination, it's common sense based on past experience with them.

"Them"?

I suggest you read my edit and the link: https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/free-books/renters-rights-book/chapter5-2.html

What you think is A-OK has been illegal for more than half a century.

Still doesn't change the fact that "Them" have a history of renting places and tearing them up after not paying rent for 6 months before finally getting tossed out and leaving the place trashed. .
