I did read it. However since it was a public comment I can easily see a sly dig at her being part of the choice of phrase.

Many people. The newspaper and it's employees. The KKK, Aryan Brotherhood and other white supremacists. All of Obama's competition, though Hillary possibly less than the rest because some people might find the comment funny and insightful - and because she has a reputation of having a smear machine apparently. Any Republican who thinks she'll be a more dangerous opponent than Obama or other Democrats, or who think it will help in the final run of Hillary vs whoever from the Republican side.

You can't assume guilt based on who you think benefits. That's ridiculous.

Well, all presidential campaigners have a "smear machine", as you put it, and the Clintons happen to be very good at. The second is definitely my opinion and can not be found in wikipedia... sorry no cut and paste for you to use.
