...being removed from the evolutionary chain? Well, the answer I
suppose is quite simple. If you're dumb enough to let your stupidity kill
you, that in effect will terminate your genes from being passed on, right?

I just had the unfortunate horror of having to watch people do really
stupid things on the tele. A show called: Now see this, or something.
From the US (where else). You have three grown men, seating
themselves in a sofa on which they've put wheels. Then they go for a
thrill ride down a steep slope. No breaks. No steering. Just swooshing
down the slope. To the side. Into the audience. Flying head first into the
air and getting tossed about like little dolls when the "couch" finally
decides to break apart in a most excellent forward motion.

I realise that the whole scene was probably directed and then televised
under the heading: authentic events caught on camera, but you have to
wonder if such people exist.

Now, for the debating issue: Should a person that dumb (if indeed there
is such a person out there), be allowed to actually pass on their genes to
a future, unsuspecting generation, or not?

Oh, and is it indeed a genetic trait, or is stupidity like that social in
nature?

Am I stupid for asking these questions?

I wonder, should I have the right to pass on my genes to a future
unsuspecting generation?

Everybody has the right to procreate.
Which is the same as saying: "Nobody has the right to procreate."
And let's be honest, the animal kingdom won't shed any tears if we died out.
The trees and the flowers wouldn't mind.
Mother Earth would be a better place without us.

So, yeah. Since we can't ban stupid people from shagging themselves into the history books, let's ban everyone.
But, since that isn't possible, I mean, we can't even stop teenagers having kids in England, what's the chances of stopping adults?

No. The only sensible solution, which will benefit a large amount of the creatures and plantlife on earth is to cut the balls off every single male human being on the planents and sterilise the females.
Yup. I know, it sounds kinda extreme, but considering I generally pray for a nuclear war to wipe us all out, it's really quite measured...

Personally, I think people are getting more stupid because of all the health and safety laws protecting the foolish from themselves. Some people still slip through the net though.

Natural selection will probably do for the time being.

I think nobody but me should be allowed to procreate. 😏

And of course, the woman of my choice. 😕

And following generations should commit suicide to avoid inbreeding.

I think perhaps, in this day and age as life holds less meaning by the day,
some of us do crazy things to feel alive again. While I'm usually satisfied
with shagging ladies, and when that fails post inane threads here at RHP,
perhaps others need to pursue more dangerous things in life. I can
understand that, but sitting on a wheeled couch down a steep slope without
steering or even the ability to hit the breaks? It's so stupid! I cringe just to
think about it.

It's not about getting smarter, it's about finding your niche. Oysters are pretty damn stupid, but here they are after millions of years, still suckin' up muck and makin' pearls. I guess it's a living.

Go ahead, try to pass on your genes. Your kids will make you regret it (the darlings!). And you'll find that smart has absolutely nothing to do with breeding success -- it's more about your ability to unflinchingly accept punishment.

If you think of it as practice for the real thing, the guys on the couch start to look like a bunch of geniuses.

😵

Good post. Most entertaining, and of course you're absolutely right about
the oyster analogy.

Well, yea, but I have a license to be dumb. 😀

My avatar justifies any inane comment I could possibly make. HA! 😏

At least the sofa offers some protection, I guess. This cheese rolling festival seems even more stupid:

It's stupid, but I think the sofa party takes the price. Believe me, it offered
no protection once it fell apart and chased their tumbling bodies down the
hill. It hurt just to look at. 😕
