Any thoughts? My method is to just set back and relax. It is all decided. The "Undecided" are all liars who just want attention. Or they are so stupid that they have zero chance of punching out ten chads successfully anyway. So relax. It is all over. Now we just have to wait for the results.

A few amusing things to pass the time are to have long discussions on the sidewalk with any and all campaign volunteers. Speak about anything but politics. You can have a good long talk if you begin each conversation by grinning and stating that you have not decided yet.

Another is to mention candidates from the past as though they are still in power, while standing in lines at airports and/or markets. Saying things like "I still like the president. He got a nobel prize. I saw him the other day building houses. I'm still voting for Carter. This new fellow Chaney just seems not to be up to the challenge of gas shortages."

A very good way of amusing yourself is to persuade your children that the person they have chosen to support is by far the best by pointing out all the things that they don't like (that you know about) as being supported by their choice. You can just make up all sorts of things. It is politics, so nobody cares about real answers. They will just get madder and madder and end up switching to the guy you support. Just never tell them who you really want to win.

Also,

There have only been three SITTING LEGISLATORS in the history of the nation who won the presidency. Let's see... working from memory, so don't hold the names but I think it was Garfield,Harding and Kennedy?

Anyway. Their problem is that their entire carreer in the legislative experience is devoted to creating many and multiple butt bandages. Cover it and protect it with the tried and true method. Come out against and for every point of view under the sun.

As the old grandma of the reporter who recently editorialized... can't remember which one... but he pretty well summed it up as follows...

"I recently walked in on my old grandma and asked 'Aren't you watching Bush give his speach'? She immediately replied, 'No. He just makes me sick.' Well, I said, Kerry will make a better president then? To which she replied. 'Yes. I guess so. But I can just see right through him. Will have to vote for Bush.'

That is the state of statecraft and politics in these trying times.

The last week of the election can be enjoyed by doing certain things: go outside, take a walk, take a nap, swim, go to the movies, visit a library, attend a curltural event.
Don't turn on the telly, don't read newspapers, don't listen to the radio, don't look at the Internet. Don't worry, it will all be over soon and then you can come out and play again.

A really good couple of hours can be spent on the internet reading all the stuff on October Surprises. They are quite entertaining to see who does them best.

This year it seems to be for the republicans... "Rehnquist Sneaks Into the Hospital With Cancer!"

For the Dems "Totally Fabricated Colusion by UN,Dems and Media prove that the 101st Airborne are all liars and fools!"

And they wonder why we hate them. Snark.
