The affordable care act. I've seen few things in recent memory as divisive as this one.

* Republicans rant and rave about this horrible SOCIALIST program that is the cause of so many abominations, they are still thinking of new ones.

* Democrats worship it as the savior of the uninsured, and the beginning of healthcare for all.

10-15 years from now I predict the truth will be somewhere in the middle. Many more people will be insured, costs will be higher for some, and lower for others. In the end, it will have generally achieved it's stated goal of expanded healthcare coverage. So, calm yourself Republicans, if the affordable care act is as horrible as you predict, it will simply fade away ...but I doubt it!. 😉

It will depend on the survival of the US as somewhat the same country it is now. What people end up thinking about ACA is not as relevant as the arguments for and against now. A couple of decades hence, it may be accepted as just the way things are.

Progressives in the US are used to moving in small increments towards socialism. However, they have taken us so far for so long that now the steps will increase in length and severity because all of the small steps have already been taken.

Now that the system is centralized and devoid of checks and balances within the federal system, they are free to begin the conversion towards tyranny.

for the heck of it,, google up the number of MRI machines each country has, per 1 million people..
I don't think we needed to make such a sweeping change, but perhaps started with the worse and mandate that congress fix issues with the healthcare, each year, until it is tweaked and works..? I would start with the pre-existing conditions, and of course children..but many states already had "fixes" for the problems..

Well, let's see. Somewhere in the vicinity of 100 million Americans will LOSE their health insurance next year, and whether they will be able to resume coverage without a break is very much in doubt. That means the ACA will eliminate coverage for far more people than it was designed to protect. The ACA has given the government unlimited coercive powers; John Roberts betrayed not only conservatism but every single American in history, dead, living, and yet to be born. Obama has assumed dictatorial powers in unilaterally amending the Affordable Care Act and is now trying to persuade insurance companies to break the law - his own law! Obama is not seeing the healthy people sign up that he needs to in order to make the economics work, which right now means the economics of the law do not work. Increased premiums for services people do not need or want mean that that much less money will go to other sectors of the economy, which will result in a decrease in non-health care-related GDP.

And that's just for starters.
