...here I am, drinking a two dollar bottle of Charles Shaw Merlot (yeah, it's a bit sweet, but who the hell am I?), playing some decent chess against my computer, rambling on the internet, having a fine time...
It would be such a shame if it took a $50 bottle!

I wouldn't even look at something that's $2 a bottle, assuming it would be like drinking Pabst beer or Canadian whiskey. The cheap stuff is not worth the price.
it would be interesting to find out which are the best of the "cheap wines". I'm sure most cheap wines are lousy, but there are probably a few that are pretty good - that for some reason have been ignored by the critics because they don't come from an "elite vineyard" or something.
Also -- why doesn't anyone make a list of the top grape juices? -- I'm sure that some grape juice is a lot better than others. Or does the lack of alcohol make grape juice inherently unworthy of critical analysis? It would be interesting to whether the best grape juices tended to produce the best wines and vice versa.
