Debates

If you succeed in defeating the Big Beautiful Bill...........
You would be voting on the largest tax increase in American history.
It would increase taxes for 62% of Americans. It would be a 22% tax increase for the average taxpayer.
It would mean an extra $1700 in taxes for the average American family of four.
It would block tax relief for middle and low income seniors.
It would eliminate 6 million jobs..
It would cut the child tax credit in half for 40 million families.
It would slash the guaranteed deduction in half for 91% of all taxpayers.
It would increase the federal tax rate to 43% for 26 million small businesses.
It would bring the Alternative Minimum Tax back for 8 million taxpayers.
It would cut the death tax exemption in half for 2 million family farms.
It would lose $1 trillion in GDP.
It would stop families from receiving the Trump gift of $1000 in a savings
account when they have a child.
It would prevent American families from an average increase in take-home pay of $10,000.

You are gonna have to work now, BTW. Have to. To build our economy. To have resources. And moms and dads will have school choice for their children. This is why y'all might not like it, as it empowers families, and Americans, and not big government. Free stuff will only go where needed.
The best chess player is a Grand Master. You need not go further than Trump. His foreign policy, his border, the negotiations, (Viet Nam a win just today).
There is a reason that his polling is off the charts.

USAID is officially dead. Tariffs a huge win. No men in women's sports....today!! Prices stable, inflation low. Gas has never been this low since 2021....when Biden was inaugurated.

@AverageJoe1

Strange what you have written, and stranger still that you seem to believe that anybody here would have any sway re: the success of that bill (which, in case you were not aware, might be subject to further changes in the lower house) before it lands on the desk of Fluffy Blond Mob Boss Trump.

You embarrass yourself.

Everyone, you all know the nature of the Bill,,,, otherwise, you would not have been commenting over this past month about it. So, I only wrote this thread to be on record if the bill fails.
Thank everyone for your attention.

Yes, it's cruel and inhumane.

But that's Trump.

I assume you have medical insurance, everyone does, so free meds cannot be the problem. (Forget Sonhouse saying medicaid will be canceled, etc. He says a lot of stuff), Curious indeed. And you cannot be upset about taxpayers paying taxes that 40% of citizens do not pay....they cover those citizens. So, it can't be about how much the govt has them pay, since they are in fact paying taxes.
So what else could it be?

While you are here, could you send us where Democrats were concerned wirh National Debt while they were in power?? And what were y'all doing walking down the street (I have never been in a street) while not wearing any clothes? They were naked. right!!!?!? And one of your congresswomen wore her pajamas to the Capitol....wore them all day.. Sue?? Have y'all not something else to do to make america great again?

OBBB is nuts.

I'm sorry I'm not being nuanced here, but adding to an already obscene deficit in an economy that's already on the verge of overheating is bad monetary policy and insane fiscal policy.

But, of course, asking the dysfunctional federal government to behave sanely is unrealistic.

Maybe you can tell us what is bad about it, keeping in mind the big picture. We will kick parasites off of Medicare, we will build a wall to keep aliens out of here. We reduce the deficit. We will have fair and lower taxes, bigger paychecks, low gas and groceries, etc etc etc
Improving lives of Americans. Libs cannot fathom how that can happen. You don't see that the economy will be improved simply by making people go to work.
Tough, I know. Believe, man.

Rights do not come from government.

What's bad about it Joe is none of these things you mentioned are really going to happen. When they don't happen, the president will not take responsibility or show any accountability - he will blame the Democrats. This is his life story.

It's fine, your side won. Live it up with your schadenfreude. I know you take great pleasure in my and others misery and misfortune.

Here in Wisconsin the biggest losers are the rural white families who voted for Trump because he promised them he cared about them and would take care of them. Then he did the opposite. This is my extended family. It's all fun and games in the Debates Forum - but these are real people I care about.

You may dislike liberals (although you don't know me or my wife and kids and friends and neighbors), but economic politics aside - as a rule liberals do not take any pleasure in anyone's misery and misfortune. It's just not how we are wired.

All due respects, I do not know what you are talking about. Did you see my list above? And you throw phrases around like Sonhouse. He would say doing this or that is bad for poor people. He does not define poor. A guy may be poor, and we find out he does no work, or keeps getting fired, or whatever. Makes bad choices, whatever. So when he finds not as much free stuff, I hope he sees we are trying to make the economy stronger by....well,...not giving away free stuff. Tell him to support himself. Maybe had more kids than he could afford. I really hate that one.

Then you write here that people were leaning on Trump to take care of them, suggesting a lack of self-reliance. THEN you say he did the opposite. A classic case of not closing a post. Tell us what opposite is?

And we are too busy making america great for the very poeople you write avbout to get ahead. Did you read my list above? You are aware that their federal taxes will go down? If they do not pay taxes, then they can thank republicans for letting successful people keep creating jobs.......I could go on and on.

Vote for Mandani.

The best part is no one has to listen to you or to me. We all get to see it in real time together.

If we are indeed on the precipice of an economic boom in America, I will gladly admit I was wrong. I will be delighted to admit I was wrong.

How long before we can judge the success of the BBB? Is it a year? Or wait until the mid-terms? Maybe 2028. We both know talk is cheap - lets see what happens together.

You were obviously high when you wrote that list. This bill does none of those things AND because of it, thousands will lose their healthcare.

But you just don't give a damn.
