I've been to Los Angeles, and I've been to New York. I must say New York is clearly the better of the two. Better food, better weather, better chess scene, and the people....I feel more comfortable with loud, pushy, honest New Yorkers, rather than nice, friendly, phoney Californians!
This is bill718 from Seattle, and that's the way the ball bounces!😏
Bunch of hooey. You generalize too much. I've found some of the nicest friendliest phonies I've ever met in New York, and some of the most forthright, pushy people in California.
The diversity in California, well, at least the bay area, is something I've never quite found the match of elsewhere, and the cliche of "friendly nice people" is badly antiquated.

"Better weather"?????
Granted, it gets a little ridiculous in January and February (especially this year). But I'm not so sure I'd trade the NY weather for hot and hotter all year long.

Anticipating:The best dog breed is the cat, from which the dog devolved into neediness.

I would kill for average highs in the upper 60's in December through March (of course where I live is a bit colder than NYC).
EDIT: Actually looking at the charts, I hadn't realized that NYC average lows even in January were as high as 26 degrees; that's Paris compared to here (where it is about 11 degrees).

BTW, looks like another winter storm watch in effect for tomorrow night. 5-10 inches expected here and up there you're looking at a foot or more.
Is this winter ever going to end? 😞
