Immunity to COVID had to have existed prior to 2019, given that the wet markets in China including bats isn't a new practice. Humans had to have been exposed to the same conditions where the outbreak started for many years prior to last year; it would stand to reason that at least some people exposed to those conditions came into contact with the virus and developed immunity.
Obviously, viruses mutate and different strains occur, some more deadly than others; but it wouldn't surprise me that immunity to this virus existed beforehand.

Effect of a wet market on coronavirus disease (COVID-19) transmission dynamics in China, 2019–2020
A novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) originating from Wuhan spread rapidly around the world to give rise to the most important pandemic event in recent history.
Duchess' abysmal ignorance aside, wherever COVID originated from, humans had to have been exposed to those conditions prior to the pandemic, since the conditions that created the outbreak were most likely not new and came from common practices like wet markets or farms.
I started a thread a few weeks ago showing that industrial farms may be the source of the next pandemic. While something must be done about that, industrial farms aren't new and it's likely that there are humans who have already been exposed to and developed immunity to any infections from such environments.

"Many experts think Covid-19 likely originated in the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in Wuhan, which has been linked to early confirmed cases."
Honestly, there's no excuse for Duchess' level of ignorance in this day and age.
@vivify saidIt's not ignorance. It's nationalistic propaganda.

@vivify saidImmunity is not a binary concept. There is plenty of cross-immunity.

Even if SARS-CoV-2 is truly a novel virus for humans, it's quite possible that antibodies (or T-cells, which produce those antibodies) made in response to other coronaviruses or other pathogens in general could help fight off SARS-CoV-2. For example, there's a lot of evidence that people immune to SARS-CoV-1 (the original SARS) have some immunity to SARS-CoV-2. There's also some evidence that vaccines used against other viruses (such as the flu or MMR shots) stimulate the immune system to produce antibodies that could be useful against COVID.
That some people can fight off COVID without getting sick has been known for many months and T-cells produced in response to other pathogens is the most likely reason.
