@sonhouse saidyou ain't alone, she couldn't tell I was being sarcastic either.
@Duchess64
So where is YOUR reading comprehension now? You don't recognize sarcasm when you see it?
Oh, I forgot to put 'Sarcasm' in quotes like you do. Sorry.
Just checking to see if you folks read all the posts :-)
@earl-of-trumps saidAnd you have to shut up.
ya know, Princess, you really have to lighten up.
Doesn’t seem either is very likely.
@sonhouse saidExcept that the Mosaic laws are for Jews only, not Christians They are not to be necessarily followed to be a Christian. In fact, some of them stand in the way of that. The OT mainly serves Christians as history and a background for understanding Jesus, who was a Jew.
@Suzianne
Does that mean Christians only follow the New Testament? I wondered about why Christians just didn't ex out the books like that or the one that says a man is worth 50 shekels but a woman 30.
@suzianne saidThat’s obviously a crock of 💩.

The ten commandments...
the seven sins... (actually, I don’t know if this one’s actually biblical... I presume it is...)
monotheism...
Israel’s boundaries for the second coming...
The whole book of Genesis is part of Christian teaching...
The post that was quoted here has been removedAny Christian who cites an eye for an eye isn’t a bloody Christian.
And Jesus said: “You’ve been told an eye for an eye. But I tell you to turn the other cheek.”
Paraphrased, but it’s one of the basic concepts of jesus’ teaching.
And in case anyone is wondering... it’s actually about breaking circles of violence. Especially blood feuds.
Which, seemingly, was quite a big issue back in the day...
And yes, Suz, it is a prime example of Christian abrogation.
@shavixmir saidThey do go rather overboard about it.
That’s obviously a crock of 💩.

That's okay, I guess they can believe what they want, but Christianity is a big tent, with room for everyone. But the OT is not a source of law for the Christian. I can stand on my faith and still believe that government and religion should stay as far apart as possible.
@shavixmir saidI fully agree.

Believe me, I don't like these con men in the church and on the fringes claiming they are Christian any more than you do.
@shavixmir saidMaybe Christian "teaching" in the churches, but Jesus himself laid down only two commandments that anyone following him should follow.
That’s obviously a crock of 💩.

1. To love God with all your heart, mind and soul.
2. To love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Everything else comes from doing these.
"Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." -- Matthew 22:36-40, KJV
@suzianne saidYes. It’s the basis upon which the others rest, but the other laws are still just.
