@moonbus saidMoonbus, moonbus......none of us, anyway, are going to be changed. All dyed in the wool, as my Aunt Melon always says. We are here to delve into the philosophy of each other, that is all. No big deal. I would like to have everyone over for cocktails, (maybe not Shav, who means well, I am sure, wants free housing for all,,,,but, I have children!!)
@Suzianne
Good commentary. Solid criticism. Unfortunately, it won't change anything among Trump's cult following; no amount of evidence makes any headway against dogma.
After years of brainwashing , on both sides, we are all set in our ways. Say the libs....if you have been on some dole for a while, you could never give it up. Conservatives, we can never give up our freedom. Guns, school choice, a lot of things we cherish.
@AverageJoe1 saidExcept you carry your bad choices around with you like a ball and chain. No wonder you're so pissed at normal people.

@Suzianne saidThe shocking thing is, Trump is only just getting started. There’s worse to come, if he is not stopped. Have you seen the video of the woman who was attacked by private ‘security agents’ in a public meeting in Idaho? That’s exactly how it started in Germany in the 1930s, with Hitler”s private militia running around beating people up. The Proud Boys are standing by for further instructions from their commander In chief.
Unfortunately so.
Heard about Trump's 'Gold Card' plan yet? Russian oligarchs will be able buy visas to stay in the USA. Open-door policy for Putin's agents to infest Amerika.
@moonbus saidI heard something about this. I'd hoped I heard wrong.

One Brit's opinion:
quote:
“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?” Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England wrote the following response:
A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.
Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever. I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.
Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.
There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.
And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.
So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:
• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.
• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.
This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of sh#t. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum. God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.
And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created?' If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.

PS apart from all the above-listed personality defects, which would fill an appendix to DSM btw, he has no leadership qualities. He simply expects everyone to do what he tells them, gets vindictive and throws tantrums when they don't; that's not leadership, that's just plain childish. Leadership consists in inspiring people to get on board and pull together. Trump does exactly the opposite: he polarizes and pours gasoline on the flames of division.
@Suzianne saidWe can agree that cons are more self reliant, you can google diff in repubs and dems, and it will say you want large government. We are more self reliant.
Unfortunately so.
So, you write this, suggesting it is "unfortunate" that we cannot be swayed with your philosophy. Do you follow?
You are telling us that we should not be self-reliant, that we should be dependent on large government.
Sue?
@AverageJoe1 saidIf that's what you truly think, you seem to have a few cognitive problems.

@moonbus saidOr to fertilize and grow the US. Could be either, I guess. I think I will say that he wants them here to take over the country. Then, you will see Knee-jerk Marauder immediately go contrarian and say that they will be coming to fertilize and grow the country.
It's so bloody obvious what's up: he's inviting the world's billionaires to come bilk the U.S. treasury for all it's worth.
@moonbus saidPeople like Mr Nate White should shut up and watch how problems get fixed. The British economy and society is in shambles because they are the exactly the kind of people Mr White puts on a pedestal. Hopefully in the next few years, Trump and his govt should be able make serious inroads into the following problems, solutions to which have escaped all these so-called classy, smart blah blah blah types.

Ukraine - the war is lost, and it is futile to spend untold billions more. NATO and the US should have come to this realisation 2 years ago. In these types of wars with big powers, if diplomacy fails, and you think it is worth it, go in with all the firepower and put an end to Putin. Stop pussyfooting with peoples lives. Trump appears to be the only world leader who is going to make an effort to end it.
Gaza - Palestinians have no right to become a state. The are sick evil people who will simply rebuild Gaza with funds from other people and then start another war. Gaza needs to be controlled. Palestinians cannot manage a country. Their aim is killing off another ethnic group and they dont care about anything else.
Africa - Aid to African countries is money down the drain. Decades have gone by, billions spent, and the place is still a $%tthole. These people take aid from all over the world, put half of it in their bank accounts, buy guns and weapons with the rest to kill off their neighbours. The world needs to stop helping these people. All they do is reproduce, and beg for help, without helping their own people to improve themselves.
Terrorist States - These like Iran need to have their weapons capability [especially nuclear], removed completely. Why does the US even give Iran aid ? What the hell for? Who is the moron that helps these terrorists. Sudan, Yemen, .. stop feeding these people.
What has Britian done in the last few decades to fix these problems? Not a damn thing.
