As I read the document it seems that the former president was not well informed about the workings of that mechanism.

But his lawyers are.........
Everything is a delay tactic........
All eyes are on 2022 midterm elections. If they can delay the legal process through that........

You seem to be right, contrary to their intention to go for the hearing November 30th, when they addressed the Court of Appeals, Trumps layers asked for further 14 days...

So much for the preparation of highly payed lawyers...

I guess he didn't realize that in order to have "presidential privilege" you actually have to BE president.

So the lawyers needed a prolongation to yield exactly zero new arguments ๐Ÿ˜ฒ...

From the ruling:

"Former President Trump has given this court no legal reason to cast aside President Biden's assessment of the Executive Branch interests at stake, or to create a separation of powers conflict that the Political Branches have avoided"

But since Trump and his team announced to go to the Supreme court, it seems they didn't understand that you need a legal reaso, or don't they?

@Ponderable
It's all about running out the clock. They KNOW they have ZERO chance of actually winning but if they keep up the trick to 2022 voting day, and repubs win, goodbye investigation in spite of the fact Biden will still be POTUS then.

THAT is the ONLY strategy.

Which could fail badly... after all the date on which something which is potentially damaging comes out shouldn't be too near to an election, in case some people remember ...

They might just delay this

headlines comes election tome.

I noticed the same years ago, that some people in power will do whatever they like, knowing they can run out the clock or count on everyone forgetting their crimes because of the passage of time and the attentional clutter of whatever subsequent events.

The good news is that they will all die eventually. HOWEVER, given the current state of medical technology and especially the development of life-extension tech, some of us might feel inspired to prune the rich and the powerful. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just sitting here now, waiting for that pre-emptive 3 AM knock on the door, without even a candle or a crow for company.

In fact the SCOTUS accepted the Appelate Courts's ruling, which found no fail with the original ruling.

But some month have passed.

@Ponderable
8 to 1 SCOTUS says give them the docs. His lights are dimming.
