i mean, it's wrong, we all know that, but think about it, anyone who cheats is gonna get bored pretty soon; cheaters take up way too much time for rhp admins who have to go through all their games to find a computer assisted pattern so that they can ban them; cheaters will only get banned then sign up again; even though they may have cheated against you, it can't do your game (only your points) any harm, it can only help you become a better player, and finally, i cant think of anything more boring than merely copying a engine with its moves, there has to be a time when cheaters get so bored with this idea they simply give up; or they get to 2500+ and start to question what was the point of it all...

They don't get bored pretty quickly but go on and on like that. Yes, I think cheaters should be banned, whether it's cheaters on a chess web site or morons using steroids in sports. I haven't heard anyone proclaim that playing against a cheater made them a better player. Can you show me someone whose ratings went up because they learned how to play better by playing against cheaters?

We are here to play against humans. If we wanted to play against a computer we would play against a computer.
Cheaters are more likely to be discouraged if they have to keep resigning up and get their ratings up to the top.
Also, the score board is a little more realistic if there are less cheaters on it.
I also think that the risk of being banned might discourage some would-be cheaters.

no, i did say if wouldn't do your rating any good, what i meant was by constantly playing a great player (chess program), eventually your game will improve to match his level...

As I said, if my aim was to improve my game by playing a computer then I would play a computer. I have a chess computer at home that can play at very high ratings. However playing against a good player is not the only way to improve your chess and possibly not a very good way if used as the only method.
Currently I play for the fun of it so I want to win some times against players who make it hard for me but not too hard. I also find human players much more interesting than a computer.

Policing often works simply by throwing would-be perpetrators into doubt. Most people try to act morally, but everyone occasionally gets tempted. However, any threat of getting caught makes it much easier for 99% of us to act 100% morally (I made those numbers up).

Besides, what else have RHP admins got to do?
