Here is an article about the toxic effect John McCain now appears to have within conservative circles. In fact, his long time friend Dick Armey seems now to be turning on the "Maverick". For those in conservative circles, the term "Maverick" is interpreted "part time statist" as many tea party organizations are favoing JD Hayworth to challenge McCain in this upcoming Senatorial election. What is interesting in all this, however, is the effect this has had on Sarah Palin who has come out in support of her one time running mate. In fact, it has been dubbed the "Rinozation of Sarah Palin".

So who gives Hayworth a snow balls chance? Also, will this end the love affair of Sarah many on the right seem to have?

if Sarah Palin is becoming a RINO, what sort of person is going to be capable of winning a GOP primary?

I really don't think that the powers that be in the Republican party respect the Tea parties all that much. My guess is that they just give them lip service for now and continue to give us Rino's like McCain. As for Sarah, I have never been that impressed with her and knows she has no chance in a general election. In fact, even as a VP I think she would be detremental. Its hard to say if she really is a Rino or simply being loyal to the man that gave her her big break as a running VP. Either way it is distrubing to those in the Tea Party movement.

Like I have said, the Tea Party needs to turn up the heat once the Republicans begin to win elections in 2010, otherwise, the movement is all for not.

Actually there are a lot of former Democrats in the movement. Also, in case you did not know, the Tea Party has already had some legal confrontations with the Republican party in regards to the Republicans trying to run on their name.

As I have said before, if the Tea Party does not continue to stand up to the Republicans in the future, the whole movement was for naught.

And yet all the funding comes from Republican lobbyists and front groups. Yep, Trotsky was not a communist.

Has anyone done a specific poll of people who support the Tea Party? -- with a breakdown as to what % are (or used to be) GOPs, Dem, and independents?

I keep hearing that the movement has "a lot of former Dems" and "a lot of independents" in it. But are there any specific numbers?

Compared to the guy who flies around with a big red 'R' on his chest all Republicans fall short. Unfortunately, that guy only appears in fantasies.

Living in Arizona, I'm very familiar with Hayworth. JD can win in areas that are dominated by Mormans (not making a slight here) and senior citizens. But he can't win statewide. he has very little support in Tucson and not much in Phoenix.

A real, long. longshot at best.
