Despite all the whailings on RHP from a small group of Republicans regarding the "evils" of the Obama administration, it looks like Obama and the Democrats will stay comfortably in power for a long time to come. In the past 2 years G O P lawmakers have been involved in a large number of sex scandals, financial scandals, and legal scandals. To make matters worse, far right and moderate Republicans are battling each other on the direction of there own party. Adding to this difficult situation, the American economy seems to be improving faster than predicted...not good news for the G O P, who is trying very hard to make a case that the eco friendly and "socialist" policies of the Democrats are harmful to the economy. I feel sorry for those moderate Republicans trying to reshape there party in order to be more inclusive, they seem to be a decent group to me. Too bad there party is still dominated by the Rush Limbaugh's, Ann Coulter's, and the Dick Cheney's of the far right. As far as the Democrats go...happy days are here again!! 😀

The GOP - and whole right wing of U.S. politics - have got no credible representatives here at RHP either. sh76, for instance, doesn't really qualify - he has a track record of cross bench type voting and eschews the red meat chewing kind of bellyaching-strewn nonsense being coughed up by some here who reckon that the GOP would have won in November 2008 if they had fielded a really right wing candidate or who would have gone with Sarah Palin even after all we now know about her inadequacies. Things are looking grim. She may make a futile run but poison the GOP's chances in so doing. I predict that a fair few GOP moderates will vote for Obama in 2012, just as they voted for him in 2008. Then again, it's hardly a surprise that the GOP will take 8 or 12 years to recover from the Bush-Cheney debacle.

I think they represent those in the far-right.

I don't see how you could think otherwise.

In my lifetime, I have met many people of a much higher calibre - and far more coherent than these posters - who espouse "right wing" views. In terms of challenging, well thought and well expressed "right wing" beliefs, RHP is a stagnant backwater - with a couple of exceptions.

c'mon. what is the likelihood you or FMF would have a valid estimate of where on the US scale lie US RHP posters?

or maybe the posters are just speaking up when they have an extreme opinion. how often do people defend moderate opinions loudly?

sh76 is by far the most moderate right winger here thus he is the favorite. At least, that is my interpretation. In fact, sh76 has even said as much I believe.

Its just sad that I'm not a "true" conservative. Maybe some day I learn how? :'(

As far as the allegation that I have posted down party lines, that is blantantly false, I have lambasted Bush as a statist and an Obama look alike and also attacked Arnold Swartsastatist of California. As far as Sarah Palin goes, I think it would be a disaster for her to run in 2012. Although I respect her conservative positions in Alaska, I don't think she is up to the task as she showed us in the last election.

I suppose this critique of the Republican party has once again shattered by true conservative position. 🙄

Not true, the position of FMF is fair and balanced and without bias.....or is that Fox news. I forget.

Well for the record I have stated that I think Sara Palen is better on the eyes than Joe Biden. Now who disagrees with that? I am not right wing either. You are still upset with something. I don't know what it is but unless you tell us we will not be able to work it out.

I would just like to go on note as saying that the GOP is not trying to self destruct, it has already done so. In addition, I welcome it. What is needed is deviate from the statist status quo or fade forever into oblivion. I mean, why do we need two parties pushing the same things? It has been a long time in coming if you ask me.

I wan't commenting on "where" most of the right wing posters are on the "scale". I was commenting on their low credibility and their low calibre.

Whodey I hear ya. I don't know why the right wing label? Folks must be so boxed in on this left right paradigm that if you arent one side then you are the other. They have self destructed. How much sex scandals was a part I am in doubt. Take a look at B. Clinton. Now there is a man that I am sure would still get the popular vote no matter what he did. So I don't know if the scandals really matter that much. I do know that we should look at getting a new party. So far Bush hurt the country more than Obama has. I am afraid though that Obama is likely to do more damage with the government control of everything before it is all said and done.
