With all due respect to the moderators, I believe that this is a de-valued forum when links to a picture of a dead girl, where America was at least complicit as a nation, is censored by deleting the links and banning the author.
Why is it OK to expose other nations and their children to the real life images of death and injury of their loved ones and fellow citizens, and/or experience their own death or injury, but necessary to censor pictures and ban their author ???
(For your info, I also had the picture printed on the front and back of a T-shirt and headed up a march of 3,000 people through Sydney a week ago).

Loads of parochial, blindly patriotic, Bush voting fools.
I had a thread detailing the Super Gun affair where the West was attempting to break its own sanctions and sell Sadam WOMD in the 1980's removed too!

I commend you on your march! You are surely one individual here who backs up their talk with action.
Originally posted by darvlayI also stand in agreement on this issue. This forum is devalued every time opinions that are deemed insensitive are censored.

To be honest, I think a site can do what it likes. However, it is important to bear in mind that American freedom is not what it was. An American web site can open itself up to all sorts of legal nasties or pressure from minority groups if it publishes stuff that can be considered un patriotic. It is incredibly scary that a nation that has always been a bit insecure is now largely too scared to make any waves on its own shores. You take an excerpt from any informal discussion about the Soviet People and their outlook on the west from the 1970's and you could apply it to America today.
However, the Americans are a nice, well meaning people so maybe all is not lost.

Might I add that the only issue I show zero tolerance for is blatant racism, a la Dodger11. I know certain folks didn't agree with my calling for his banning but I have no regrets for doing so!

This is utter nonsense as even a cursory look at the web will show you. As a strong critic of my country's foreign policy, I nonetheless have to say that some foreigners' ideas as to what goes on in the US is quite warped. So far there are no gulags for government critics and while the major media is corporate dominated, there are plenty of sources for news and commentary from progressive viewpoints. To assert otherwise is completely inaccurate and downright silly.

So?
EDIT - Listen, we all have our own hang-ups. My hang up may be racism and Joe Blow's hang-up may be when people talk bad about his country's foreign policy. So what? It was not my decision to ban Dodger11, it was the Site Admins. If someone wants to call for someone to be banned based on their political leanings, sexual preference, filthy mouth, cheapness, etc. then they are free to do so. Obviously the Site Admins agreed that racism has no place here in these forums.
Maybe I missed your point, Nems...
Originally posted by no1marauderYou may be right, I may be suffering from the same thing I am complaining about. Perhaps, un-patriotic is not fair either but certainly "offensive" is. I have been in numerous conversations with web site admins based in the US that remove anything mildy offensive to an American audience but who are quite happy to offend large amounts of other people. The list of things that are offensive definately seem to be growing too.

I would not want to paint Americans as stupid or dupes though, I know they are not.
Originally posted by WheelyThen people who are banned should have part of their subscription refunded, else have a forum that is 'America Politically Correct' and one that is open with a disclaimer, else remove the forums.

Censorship has much more damaging effects than stifling one's creativity, don't you think?
Nothing is more damaging than a lack of creativity.
anything which could be stated as worse, also damages creativity.
Creativity is what life is about. It's beautiful. It should never be destroyed!
