Would a mob of thousands rioting and destroying federal buildings because they believe an election was stolen---despite their president's hand-picked Attorney general saying there was no significant election fraud, and 60 different courts all dismissing any election fraud, including a conservative-majority SCOTUS, where half the conservatives were chosen by their own president---
Would that be an example of "mass formation psychosis"? Why or why not?

@vivify saidAccording to MB’s theory, yes.

However, just to be abubdantly clear and unfunny, whipping a crowd into a frenzy or panic has nothing to do with either hypnosis or psychosis.
Shout “fire” in a full theatre and run for the door.
Stand in a crowded street, look upwards and gape wide-eyed.
Watch a concert and look at people singing along on cue.
Watch an entertainer like Colbert, and how the audience participates with groans and cheers.
Indoctrinate a generation with patriotism and nationalism, then put on a film like Independence day (sci-fi rubbish) and watch the eyes tear up when the president holds his defiant speech.
Starve a nation, come up with a simple solution with a clear cut bad-guy to blame.
Choose an insecure person, groom them and lure them into sex relationships.
None of it is hypnosis. It’s playing on human nature (fight or flight responses), imbedding messages and feelings (indoctrination) and triggering.
There is no pyschosis either.
People are not detached from reality, they’re not delusional and they’re not hallucinating.
There is one “however” about the psychosis part: when forcing someone out of an imbedded message (indoctrination), it can be traumatic and that can trigger a psychotic episode.
That’s why when people are brainwashed (which is basically indoctrination) one tends to use natural attrition to deprogram them, rather than deprogramming (the technique) them itself (so, slowly ease them out if possible).

That is not true. Most were dismissed on standing and therefor considered no evidence. The Russiagate investigation was started from a false rumor. Is that an example of "mass formation psychosis"?
The answer is yes, but both sides believe in their election stealing conspiracy theories. Don't you agree?

Get that into your metal brain.

@metal-brain saidExcept Russiagate had evidence, 35 indictments and 7 convictions related the investigation. Trump's conspiracy had Giuliani farting at a hearing.

@shavixmir saidWouldn't it be easier to list what you think does exist? You would deny the existence of the chair under your ass if it fit your narrative.
It’s not hypnosis and it’s not psychotic.

By your post, do you expect "mass formation psychosis" will stand as a conspiracy theory with real-life consequences, like Pizzagate or Sandy Hook?
26 Jan 22
@vivify saidThat isn't evidence. GP being grilled over a false rumor he heard and a perjury conviction for simply not remembering what dates he met with Russians is not evidence. Mueller was running a witch hunt and it wasn't his first. See the Anthrax investigation.

@vivify saidNa. I’m pretty sure if nobody mentions it again, it will fade like flat earth theories, fake moonlandings and trump has a brain.

@metal-brain saidThe classic definition of psychosis is: A mental disorder characterized by a disconnection from reality.

Now honestly ask yourself this one question. Who, in this entire forum, exhibits the most obvious disconnection from reality?
You cannot escape that. It's you, man. It's you.

@shavixmir saidWhy do people tolerate dictators? When dictators do bad things nobody mentions it again. Dictators do not run government on their own. They cannot give orders without loyal followers. It is as if the bad things they do fade like flat earth theories.
