"It's a Good Life"

Debates

I imagine some might remember that Twilight Zone episode, and a few might even know about the original short-story by Jerome Bixby from 1953.

Somehow, to me this feels relevant to our times in the USA.

"I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison (1967) also seems relevant to our times.

Have you read "Those Who Walk Away From Omelas"?

No, I have not, and as time went on I became less and less of a reader -- to my dismay -- even though by now my self-selected library consists or two or three thousand books.

Is that something you would recommend? Also, I wonder if "Omelas" might be a further progression from the stories I mentioned in the OP.

Yes. It's a very short story (4.5 pages) with a relevant theme.

Thank you. I'll give it a try.

(Recently I have been able to read about as many pages or more in physical books, as in the before-times.)
