“God used Donald Trump to save me from the weaponized Biden DOJ,” Brian Kelsey, former Tennessee State Senator, said. He had originally plead guilty to the charges in 2022.

He pardoned his son to protect him from the right, who were looking to score weak political points against him because he was a Biden.

I wouldn't say is started then, but it was certainly a big step in the race to the bottom that has plagued this issue as well as so many others.

Weaponization of the DOJ IRS FBI CIA Mainstream Media etc started with Obama and the Dems gleefully took the ball and ran with it, they've been doing it ever since. Now they are freaking out because they are the targets and they've got plenty to hide.
