The jury in Trump's NY criminal trial was sent to deliberations around 11:30 AM today. With 34 felonies counts for them to decide unanimously, it's unlikely there will be a verdict today though you never know. Conventional wisdom is that quick verdicts are usually convictions but the longer the deliberations take the better the chance of acquittal or a hung jury. But that doesn't necessarily follow.

I personally expect a definitive verdict not a hung jury.

Being a layperson on US law: I would expect that "hung jury" would take longer than each other outcome, since at least some people will try all to convince a stubborn jury member. (And yes I have seen the impressive movie "12 angly men"😉

Interesting; the jury has asked for a read back of testimony relating to Trump's meeting with Pecker, Cohen and Hicks in August 2015 when the plan to buy stories unfavorable to Trump and kill them to aid his campaign was hatched.

Deliberations done for the day; as expected, no verdict.

Read back of testimony relating to the August 2015 meeting will be done first thing tomorrow. The jury also asked for the judge to repeat his instructions; the articles I read did not specify what portions the jury requested to hear again.

Are the jury instructions not written then? Seems like that would be a no brainer.

I'm not sure about NYC, but typically in my area judges don't provide written instructions to the jury. In fact, NY's highest court has found it to be reversible error to do so if the defendant objects.

I haven't read anything answering why the Trump jury doesn't have written instructions.

It is Wed Night. Up to now I was thinking Hung, but with the judge changing the rules, the law, the procedures, maybe even from 'unanimous verdict' to majority rules (ahhhh, music to rabid libs), , I am left with no recourse but to say there will be a problem for Trump's lawyers. You see, they have never dealt with a S----- judge like this. Trump may have an uncomfortable decision. Jesus.

I think I saw that the instructions can only be read by the judge,,,,,jurors do not read them for themselves. Strange.

One expert said if it goes to Friday it will be a hung jury, he thinks convict would happen by Thursday or hung on Friday.

And that would be a good thing, making Trump uncomfortable. My guess is if convicted he will get probation and an ankle bracelet.

Think of the 2 lawyers, of 2 nyc lawfirms, who, if they go not guilty, have to face their liberal partners, and maybe limited law firm advancement and big money. We cannot count on them. I hope the jurors who get a browbeating from the 2 lawyers do not fold.

Did you hear that a very queer guy on MSNBC said he has a 'man crush,' oo the judge? What is wrong with all of the faeries in the lib parties?

That’s because your sexuality is oppressed.
Otherwise you’d have no problems if other men fancy each other or not.
