I believe public is defined as government, private is anything not private.
From a free speech standpoint, there are ongoing legal arguments that facebook is a public forum and therefore censorship is illegal. In a public forum, the government has access to that information.
If facebook is a private company, which I think it is, then it should be able to ban, censor, curate the content however they wish. They've chosen as a platform to publicize users posts, so of course the government is going to monitor that.
If you want something to remain private, don't post it on an open access social media platform.

We have a too much government in too many big companies.

And the food we eat, and drugs we take. FDA. Need the FBI now, too. Then there is FEMA, OSHA, USPA, NASA. You know, I might have missed one or two, but that is about it . Huge military goes without saying, and the VA falls in there as well. The FHA is impt to help responsible people buy their first homes. Those that don't, their choice.
Pretty much what the US government did in 1800.
That's about it. Of course, you folks who want the entitlement programs, that will take about 200 more agencies, but hey, that's life. I 've never gotten an entitlement, myself. We need to find someone who regularly pulls down the free stuff to give us his input.
