I was wondering how people justify abortion? I mean, how is a fetus not "human." Last time I checked, an unborn baby doesn't magically turn human - or does it?

Have you adopted any children?

There are too many people in the world.....many people are stupid. Women who get pregnant with a kid they don't want are stupid, Stupid parents produce stupid kids.

Abortion = less stupid people, and more air for us still here.....Q.E.D

Yeah, and that small, hard, roundish thing I boiled for four minutes this morning, cracked the top off with a knife, then watched as yellow goo dripped down the side and all over my kitchen table and finally stuck bits of bread in was a chicken.

It's a woman's body, it's her bloody choice.
End of story.

Do you agree with that two minutes before birth?

I'm not sure I do.

Let's not keep this only to abortion - let's expand it to someone like you. How would you feel if we as a society decided that you were stupid and that we would be better off without you?

What qualifies as stupid and who decides that?

Hitler thought the Jews were stupid yet no one I know of will defend him.

Very true, two minutes before birth, the baby is effectively another human, capable of surviving independantly. In the first weeks of pregnancy before the formation of a nervous system beyond that of a lower mammal however is a different story. I think it's a fools errand to try to define a single moment where it becomes human, but if we can define a period of time where this fuzzy line is crossed, and make sure that such procedures take place before that period of time and no later, then the foetus can, IMO, be defined as a part of that womans body to do with as she feels is necessary.

Could you try and be a bit more predictable.

It's not that a fetus isn't human, it's that it's not a person.

Your post gave me an idea. Maybe a fetus should have equivalent rights to whatever animal it's nervous system is like. It's well known that fetuses go through developmental stages where first they're like a fish, then an amphibian, etc.

Fortunately, despite all appearances, society is generally far more sensible than the majority of us. Your suggestion is exactly what we do and is exactly as it should be.

It's just perfect that most things that govern us weren't concocted via public opinion.
