The Left in the US is salivating over the prospect of crucifying Karl Rove. In case anyone is wondering, here are the four requirements necessary for Karl Rove to be found guilty of any wrongdoing concerning CIA agent Valerie Plame...

1. Karl Rove must have specifically named Valerie Plame.
2. Valerie Plame must have been, in fact, working undercover for the CIA.
3. Rove must have known Valerie Plame was working undercover for the CIA.
4. The CIA must have been actively trying, and Karl Rove must have known that the CIA was actively trying, to protect the identity of Valerie Plame at the time Rove made his statement to the Time reporter.

Just thought you'd like to know.

If you're suggesting that this is a political attack on Karl Rove, then you're just as unprincipled as he is. What you'd have us all beli ...[text shortened]... the sole reason that he's your guy - is crap. As are most of the opinions of yours I've read.
C'mon, SQ, wouldn't the "Old Right" (that's not the Joe McCarthy right, is it?) at least let the grand jury finish its business and allow a trial to reach its conclusion before sending anyone to jail?

No, Del, not the McCarthy right. I'm 33 years old for God's sake. So of course Karl Rove deserves a trial in federal court and George Bush deserves his trial before the senate before we pack them off to the gulag.

Here's the thing. Disclosing the identity of a covert operative is a felony. The bar for the statute was intentionally set high. B ...[text shortened]... t - well, that's for a judge to decide, but it sure sounds like treason in a time of war to me.
LOL! SQ, I think you've got the hots for Valerie. How about if we let the legal system sort it out. BTW, I guess I don't understand what makes her a CIA operative as opposed to a CIA employee? Did she wear a disguise when she went to work every day? Did she keep it a secret that she worked for the CIA?

I read at one point that she was a non-official-cover agent (noc) at least for a while. The implication was that she really was an agent. But I don't know for sure.

BTW, how does Robert Novak skate in all this? Wasn't he the one who made it public? Why didn't he have to disclose his source(s)? Just wondering.

A non-official-cover agent???????? Sounds like something we could do to earn some extra money, Stephen. I don't know about Novak. Maybe he has turned over his sources already and the court just hasn't "leaked" that fact yet.

Well, when you talk about letting the legal system sort it out, you've got a journalist who didn't write an article in jail and a journalist who did write an article not in jail. And for all that the President says he wants to get to the bottom of it, he really doesn't. Because if he did, the President would say to his staff, "I'm the president. ...[text shortened]... ubrious environments and commits acts of derring-do. Employee, someone who checks time cards.
Well, SQ, it's nice to know you're keeping an open mind about the case.

If she was not in fact in the field in the last five years, then no crime was committed and Bush, Rove, and Co. can just keep seig-heiling each other as our country circles the toilet bowl. However, "I didn't know Va ...[text shortened]... be he truly didn't do anything wrong - but then why the special prosecutor and the inquisition?
Come one yourself, SQ. "...and Bush, Rove, and Co. can just keep seig-heiling each other as our country circles the toilet bowl." What's your problem with letting the court sort it out? I think your problem with that is the fact that it won't give you the opportunity to trash Bush several times in each post. You sound much more like a member of the "New Left" rather than the "Old Right", but if you're 33 and are a member of the "Old Right", just who is the "Old Right" in your mind?

That all sounds good to me, SQ. I just don't think it helps though when you compare Bush to Hitler etc. When you do that you are replenishing the New Left's store of cyber-fireballs. Now tell me who/what you consider the Old Right?

I'm still a bit uneasy about the nuclear plants, and one of those who curses the 10% I must use all winter that lowers my gas milage and clogs my fuel filter. Aside from that, I'm in hearty agreement with the advice sasquatch offers to our President.

The Republican leadership now running this country abandoned its party, and the American people, just as the Clinton administration did before it.

When both major parties return to their roots, we will gain two things: a real debate between principled opponents, and a basic agreement to pursue good ideas no matter which party suggests them.
