I've lived in Russia for 7 years. Granted Kasparov has some good points to bring up , but some to the people he is asking for support is way too fringe for most russians. Most Russians want a decent job, food, housing and schools for their children. "Democracy" and many of its fruitless debates such as "Freedom of Speech" "abortion" and "fair and free elections" are great Icing but not real for most Russians. Putin brought Stability for most Russians whether it is real or not. Kasparov looks more like a Nut Than a Knight in Russia...Plus his background and Riches don't help with his everyman image in the least....

Well, you'd think the president would be doing a much better job, with God in his cabinet.

The problem with that scenerio is the power of the upper crust of the corporation, able to shift production around and manipulate the system to counter the aims of the workers. You can see that in the use of plant closings that just so co-incidentally kill off a union and rebuild the plant in a third world country where just also accidentally the wages are ...[text shortened]... ty. When that third world country gets too uppity, a new 4th world country is found, ad nauseum.
That is why Marx said that communism had to be global (internationalism).

Do you accept the right of other people to start a non-communist community?

So you must accept that in a world comprised of 6 billion people, some will chose not to live under communism, right?

How do the communists compete economically with these capitalists?

Then, by your definition, communism can never be global and it's doomed to failure. Why you advocate a system that, by your definition, cannot possibly work is beyond me...

Well, in theory they don't compete economically. They just exist for the benefit of those who don't want to participate in capitalism.

In the current reality, communism does compete. Israeli Kibbutzim are still responsible for the bulk of Israel's agricultural output.

While the kibbutzim lasted for several generations as utopian communities, most of today's kibbutzim are scarcely different from the capitalist enterprises and regular towns to which the kibbutzim were originally supposed to be alternatives.
