Does anyone have any good information about CURRENT emissions by nations who sighed vs. those that didn't?

The guy on the cbs radio news just said "For those nations that signed the Kyoto Protocols, their emissions are up by 21% while those for the non-signees is up by 7%. The US emissions are up 5%"

This doesn't sound right, and of course CBS feels no need to say where they got the information from, nor is it on their web site.

Frustrating! Anyway, what is the current standing and how reliable are the sources?

I am going to go waste an hour on the UN site... but if you have ever tried finding anything there, you will know how frustrating it is to search for Kyoto and get NOTHING except news releases from 2005.

Any REAL input is welcome. Please don't bother posting all the "Seals and the fish they eat are people too" web sites as REAL. I am looking for valid government news sites. Thanks

I remember the official reporter for the Iraqi government news site telling us that they were winning, whilst the buildings were crumbling behind him.

Besides the point, but to the point at exactly the same time.

Not supposed to ask questions like that.

Your are supposed to inject that stuff... not put it up your yang. What are you on today?

Or does kyoto emissions seem terribly like Iraq to you?😞

Why not? It is frustrating as all get out to not be able to INSTANTLY find out the most recent emissions rates.

Either the damn planet is being killed or it isn't. One would think that if it were in ANY danger, we would keep a running chart for ALL POLUTERS to see... every day, ten times a day.

But somehow... the best search engine on earth can't give me s stupid up-to-date chart of nations on pollution???

And where are the IPCC charts updated for today on Kyoto!??

grrrrr....

Stupid internet! I wonder some days why we are in such a mess.

Europe is on track to reach and possible overachieve targets according to recent reports. Also, considering China is one of the countries that didn't sign the Kyoto treaty, you can bin those news.

How does propaganda taste these days, SVW?

I forgot the sarcasm smiley.

Yep you're right KP was a farce and we've just paid for 10 000 hypocrites to convene in a 'tropical island paradise' to come up with a successor to KP, sheesh, will we ever learn?

Obviously my reply had nothing to do with Kyoto emissions (like I give a damn about the environment), but all about which figures and news reporting is trustworthy.

Mighty big 'if' there. Nothing conclusive, also biased source, weak.

Try again.

Reputable source please.

EU Way Off Course For Meeting Kyoto Targets Say Latest Figures

New data published Thursday showed the European Union (EU) remains embarrassingly off track for meeting its pledges under the Kyoto Protocol...

Is there a link to a newer one? This one seems to be way out of date, and not at all what you say. I got this by googling EEA report, but not until I had read several non-related threads.

Stick to your right-wing think tanks, muppet.

I'll stick to the official reports on emissions.

Check out the 2007 report (Table 1, page 11).

Of the 15 countries that were in the EU in 1990 (when the measurements started) only 3 are still unclear on meeting the targets. The other 12 countries that joined up only recently as EU members are further behind but are implementing the measures that are recommended by the EU.

Both the EU-15 and the new member countries are expected to meet targets if they implement the already scheduled policies.
