Tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, Apple etc. provide many services we now take for granted. The thing is, they've grown so fast they're influence and wealth is now larger than many countries. Our own government lawmakers (many of whom still work primarily from card file boxes, and think phishing is something one does to catch fish, and TWAIN is a guy who wrote books) are completely ill equipped to know what laws and regulations should be in place to allow these companies to grow, but also insure these business practices don't harm consumers or compromise America's national security. 2 key questions:
How can older lawmakers, who know little about today's computer technology, make informed decisions about our tech giants?
Since technology is changing so rapidly, what will tech companies look like and offer 10, 20 30 years from now?
