Whilst everyone makes their claims as to the rights or wrongs of the Israeli action in Lebanon, I thought I might add a touch of realism to the debate.

Some may remember a new poster to the general forums who arrived a few months ago and posted often. A young lady from Beirut (that's in Lebanon for the geographically challenged).

Those that do remember will have a real person (well, as real as a chess forum will allow) to consider when they glibly dismiss the consequences of "collateral damage".

I'm not saying Lolette has been directly affected but she hasn't posted in a while and at least many of us will have a passing knowledge of a Lebanese citizen whereas we might not have had before.

I totally agree. Today hear from two German younglings (i think they were aged 14 and 15) who made from south to north were they were lucky enough to get a plane towards our country.

Lets all hop Lolette is fine and that the suffering of the people ends as soon as possible. Ends mean living.

It's probably the Mossad trying to find out who her friends are.

And you're sitting there making jokes about it. 😠

She might have logged on from away from home, and even if she didn't, having half your city flattened by air strikes is something most of us can't begin to comprehend.

I hope she's alright, too. The sooner Israel is punished for its outrageous foreign policy, the better.

I never said anything to the contrary and I agree with you. However, Wheely would have done well to actually research (or at the very least look at the profile page) before claiming that someone may be dead because they haven't posted in a while.

I didn't claim she had been harmed.

The point of the post was to put a face to someone in Beirut that some us may sort of "know". I imagine most of us don't have anyone we directly know over there.

If your city is being bombed almost daily, they don't actually have to hit you, your friends or your family for you to be directly affected.

EDIT: I did do some research. At the time, she stopped her daily postings and hadn't moved for an unusual period of time. I have actually communicated with her since too.
