@AverageJoe1 saidWhat a moron; China "gobbling up" the Netherlands for God's sake? What talking head on Fox News came up with that one?
War? Are you so shallow-minded? Consider that the funding covers deterrence, alliance and global stability, as well. Like, if the USA did not have a military, China wojld gobble up the Netherlands and Romania in a hearbeat, and anything else they want.
The real question is how to spend smarter while keeping the USA (and the world for that matter) secure. Your Eur ...[text shortened]... n, they sure can't live without us.
Be careful what you pacifists wish for. YOU are a pacifist.
@no1marauder saidSilly guy. Survival of the fittest has been the rule for 10,000 years. China would be licking their chops to say Oh good. There are a few countries that we can just go take over. They have a lot of mineral in their soil and we like their cheeses.

You are quite naïve to suggest that China would not take over other countries. Do you think they want to take over Taiwan? Do you think they would like to take over the United States?
Geez
@Great-King-Rat saidWhatever, tds guy. But you short-sighted lot don’t think past your eyes, see that someone will end up w Greenland…………
Considering the American President’s continuous threats of taking over Greenland - as well as various other actions which, astoundingly, the president can apparently do without much backlash - certainly America is a bigger threat to world peace than China.

So, who do you like for Greenland?

@no1marauder saidYeah I think that's a good start. Anything over 10 million should be taxed at 100% including assets and the proceeds will go to those with w-2 earnings. After the budgets balanced of course.
It's just another example of our present tax system favoring non-work by the wealthy.
I've always proposed that inheritances should be taxed as regular income to the beneficiaries after some exemption of say, $25,000 or $50,000.
No one likes paying taxes but if you're dead...
@AverageJoe1 saidSeriously since WWII, I can think of one instance, Kuwait in 1991, when we used our bloated military to "defend" a country. Every other case was the US either attacking another country or intervening in what we're basically civil wars (I include Korea and Vietnam in that category).

Having such a huge and powerful military and allowing one man to unilaterally decide when and where to use it is a recipe for eternal conflict. I'd take away a lot of the President's toys since it has proven too much of a temptation to play with them with deadly consequences.

@no1marauder saidProbably after this we need a constitutional rewrite. It's quite amazing how much of our government was held together by norms and suggestions rather than explicit rules for things like "who decides if we go to war or not?"
