There are some relevant quotes in the Little Red Book:
"Without an army for the people, there is nothing for the people."
"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun."
"Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party."
Notice how the Party comes to be the emphasis, rather than the people?
Mao was thoroughly corrupt, selfish and a sociopath who used the Party to suppress rivals. The Little Red Book came fairly late in his career and was an attempt to make Mao as influential as Jesus and Confucious for the purpose of controlling the masses. For Mao people were a source of power but had no rights. When they became useless to the Party or rivals to Mao they were killed to maintain internal discipline.
Before he won the Chinese civil war he made an interesting statement:
[The suobiao] "makes all landed tyrants and bad gentry tremble at the sight of it. The Hunan revolutionary authorities should...make sure every young and middle aged man has one."
The suobiao is a short Chinese spear.

Originally posted by JS357The 2nd amendment is about prohibiting infringement on a 'right of the people". It does rather seem that Mao was right, to paraphrase that the rights of the people get converted into the power of the State.
Revolutions are started for the good of the people, and are ended for the good of the Party. That's what those three quotes tell me.
The post that was quoted here has been removedIt is obvious to all that Mao never said anything about the second amendment in the USA. Also obvious is that js357 used the quotes as they do apply to peacetime USA as well as any other country in world. We just have to keep in mind the social and political climate are not static and things can change. The second amendment is an attempt to keep our system of government from becoming one like Mao Zedongs's. Good job to js357 for showing the mindset of the dictator!!!!
