Every so often I stumble across a story which nearly brings tears to my eyes. Positive tears I mean...

Just read this from the BBC website:

Thousands of protesters chanting "Get out Bush" have thronged the streets of Mar del Plata, an Argentine beach town hosting the Summit of the Americas.

The US president and 33 other regional leaders are in town to discuss free trade and poverty, amid tight security.
George Bush is expected to face vocal opposition, not just from left-wing protesters, but from other leaders like Venezuela's Hugo Chavez.
Mr Chavez was due to address the protesters before joining the summit.

The crowd marched through the streets to a football stadium.
Shops were boarded up along the route, though the march was mainly peaceful.

Earlier protesters had surrounded a train that brought their comrades from Buenos Aires, including protest leaders like Argentine former football legend Diego Maradona and Bolivian left-wing presidential candidate Evo Morales.

Mr Bush arrived on Thursday and held a meeting on Friday morning with leaders from the Central American Free Trade Area.
The US president wants free trade relations to be instituted across the two continents.
In his keynote speech, Mr Bush will argue that the way to guarantee prosperity is by encouraging free trade and a flourishing private sector and by deepening democracy, the BBC's Jamie Coomarasamy in Mar del Plata reports.

But emotions are high among those who say US-backed free-market policies have pushed millions into poverty.
Some 96 million people in the region are surviving on less than $1 per day, according to the United Nations.
The rivalry between Mr Bush and Mr Chavez is expected to dominate the meeting.
The Venezuelan government has said that it will reject any summit declaration which contains references to free trade in the Americas.

However, the BBC's South America correspondent says Washington still has many strong allies among Latin American countries, who are well aware that the US remains their dominant trade partner.
More than 8,000 police officers are guarding the venue of the summit.
"We hope protests are carried out in a peaceful way, but if they are not, we are prepared to give wrongdoers a forceful response," said federal police commissioner Daniel Rodriguez.

I though Maradona could barely walk and talk after his drug abuse, never mind campaign against America.

I'm frightened.

I undderstand that Maradonna was treated for his drug addiction in Cuba (which has one of the foremost health systems in the world, despite US sanctions), and as a result of this has found a new, left-leaning viewof politics.

They locked him up in a Cuban prison to dry him out.

Maradona is a fat-ass ex-soccer player who wasted his life on cocaine....since he's practically useless these days, he decided to become an activist....why wasn't he protesting the price of tickets poor Argentinians has to pay to see his ass at the stadium....?

With age comes wisdom.

I do believe a young George Bush had a bit of a cocaine habit at one time as well...not?

So tragic when wisdom doesn't come with age....eh?

Yeah Bush snorted a few lines, big f'n deal! All you lefties love to bring that up. Its hilarious, because typically left wingers are all for legalizing marijuana and such, but when its conveniant to take a conservative stance on drugs, there they are.

I'm smelling that stench of hypocrisy now...

So Bush partied a bit in his younger years, tells ...[text shortened]... hats all. No, he didn't need to dry out in prison either, so I think the analogy is a bit lame.
You see.
AGAIN you are missing the point.

I couldn't care less if Bush was cocaine impersonified.
My point was a retaliation to a comment that maradona did drugs and now is a left wing activist. My point was that he learned from what other's percieved to be a mistake. My point is that even though Bush shares a history with Maradona, that Bush is not perceived to be any more the wiser.

But to understand this you would have to look further than just my post. You'd have to check out what my post was referring to, what other people were talking about. Damn...you'd have to look for contexts!!!

Because you don't look for the bigger picture, you're continually stuck in a reactionary position that makes you look like an imbecil.

So please, if you're not going to take the time to understand what I'm writing about (so reading what I'm reply to and understanding where the original post was coming from), please refrain from answering me. You're wasting my precious time and I've got a good shagging to go to.

I think he mostly played in Italy. You still raise a good point though.
