How many Mexicans/South Americans/Puerto Ricans/Cubans have Spanish ancestors?
Even if they had one or two from ten generations back, they sure ain't Spanish now.
They had a language and religion stomped on them by the brutal Spanish colonizers, and we call them Hispanic because of that, but there is nothing in their culture and racial identity that is Spanish. They don't identify as Spanish at all.
We call them Hispanic, and it's an accepted convention to refer to Spain as Hispanic, but when someone says Hispanic, I think of everyone from Mexico on downward.,
People from Spain are Spanish.....not Hispanic.

Cultural integration has always been a part of America, and I think a key to its success. We don't turn into Africa or Mexico.
