Cards on the table time. Musk has been a hero of mine for a long time. Challenging the internal combustion status quo and the oil industry ( a trillion dollar a day turnover industry) is no small feat. For a long time he was just that "on the spectrum guy" generally over promising though under delivering, but slowly establishing a presence that regardless of what the motoring press and experts threw at him, Tesla just grew and grew. That's beside the growth and capacity of Space X and in short I saw him as a real visionary a true Maverick.
But then he starts pivoting towards Trump, and I thought well, how else would you tap into this vast audience of beer drinking, gun toting, gas guzzling Joe's, and make them consider the benefits of renewable energy and the lower running costs of EV's, if not by making yourself seem useful by helping your no1 MAGA boss get his job back. Right!
Musk is a business man and to lose a lot on Twitter but gain much more by having a seat at the table seems eminently smart thinking. Right?
Maybe the truth of absolute power corrupting absolutely though is where the hero worship ends. Its easy to say its just business, nothing personal, but what's with his obsession with ultra right parties in Europe and the UK and with using his platform to call out support to free all these true malcontents who have been jailed for acting outside of the law. Is there a future in openly supporting white supremacists? Or is this where the Musk miracle hits the wall?
Is this where the Maverick transforms into the Malevolent Malcontent that ends up marginalising himself into irrelevance? If we tolerate this transformation will we look back to this being the moment where we the people, lost our relevance?
@kmax87 saidBeyond the $250 million "donation" that musk made to trump, he has been acting out of the box weird lately. His recent comments at the German neo Nazi party meeting was just one example.

@kmax87 saidTrump has destroyed many people.

Look at Rudy Giuliani and Mike Lindell.
Musk isn't special.
@kmax87
I think Musk believes in an optimistic vision for mankind that will ultimately entail moving humanity off this rock, but knows that to accomplish it we will need a prosperous, efficient civilization to be capable of pulling it off. And recently he's figured out the greatest threat to that is leftism, so he's just going to solve that like any other problem.

you had me reading until this:

@Earl-of-Trumps saidI apologize if you find the characterisation too much of a cliche, but answer the question. Are those hard in the drill baby drill camp supportive of EV's and renewable energy in general. Can you see how Musk's actions could be interpreted as an attempt to expand his fan base and his business empire?

@wildgrass saidWell, yes, and then there's the whole Nazi salute thing he did multiple times on national television.

@Soothfast saidOh come on. He put his hand on his heart and actually said "my heart goes out to you" as he made the motion. You morons and your Nazi talk. It's so stupid it's actually sad.

@Sleepyguy saidAnd put your hand on your heart and say for the millions that saw his heartfelt exuberance there wasn't a reasonable percentage of Uber Mensch, that weren't encouraged by the sweep of his arm?

@kmax87 saidI guess we should all keep our arms at our sides then. Wouldn't want to encourage any crazies!

@Sleepyguy saidGood idea. Some crazies need very little encouragement.
