Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

I know this ties into religion, but I still thought I'd put it in the debate forum...

So...should people say "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays"

Or, does it even matter?

IMO you should say whatever you feel for. If I am talking to individual people and I know what they celebrate or don't celebrate, I'll change what I say accordingly. But in a forum I am more likely to say "Merry Christmas", or maybe "Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it" or something like that, because that's what I celebrate myself (despite not being a Christian). If someone would wish me "Happy Hanukkah" or "Happy Winter Solstice Festival", I certainly wouldn't be offended either.
