Boston (MA) - Scientists at MIT have recorded a nearly simultaneous world-wide increase in methane levels. This is the first increase in ten years, and what baffles science is that this data contradicts theories stating man is the primary source of increase for this greenhouse gas. It takes about one full year for gases generated in the highly industrial northern hemisphere to cycle through and reach the southern hemisphere. However, since all worldwide levels rose simultaneously throughout the same year, it is now believed this may be part of a natural cycle in mother nature - and not the direct result of man's contributions.

I believe that this could be due to methane being released due to the thawing of frozen marshes that had previously contained natural methane.

The only POSSIBLE contradiction is in the causes of methane increasing.

This has nothing to do with the overall theory and does not have any bearing on any of the other greenhouse gases.

Also, of course there are natural cycles in addition to the overall effect of global warming caused by humans. When we enter a cooling phase of the cycle, it will seem like global warming isn't happening, but once we enter the heating phase of the cycle there will be a huge effect of human-made global warming plus the natural cycle.
