Lost in the news of this invasion is the very real economic pain Russians citizens will feel very soon as a growing list of American companies the Russian economy depends on are cutting ties. They include Visa, Mastercard, Delta Airlines, AT&T, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Dell, General Motors, Ford, FedEx, DHL, UPS, with more to follow. In addition, Boeing will no longer service airplanes that have been leased by Russian Aeroflot. This in addition to the many other companies around the world pulling out of Russia including Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, BMW, Honda, Mazda, Airbus, BP, Hapag Lloyd, Nokia, Adidas - with more to follow.

The Russian economy, already weakened by sanctions, will be facing some very ugly times as a result of this.

Sorry, but the people have to make clear to the government that they are not going to cooperate. Ultimately, even dictators cannot prosecute long wars without the support of the home front.

Funny, conservatives here want to make it a crime to actively support economic sanctions against a nation which seized land in an aggressive war and still oppress the People there. https://jewishinsider.com/2022/03/zeldin-house-republicans-re-introduces-anti-bds-bill/

While disabled athletes are banned from international competition they trained for for years because of what their government did.https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/03/sport/russian-belarusian-athletes-2022-winter-paralympics/index.html

That our government apparently disagrees with your warped view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict does not make it inconsistent to impose sanctions on Russia.

I'm not in favor of banning disabled Russian athletes from international competition. I am in favor of economic sanctions that reduce the worldwide influence of the Russian despot and cripple its ability to use its economic power to try to force the world to accept its attacks on Ukraine.

The people can protest,
Putin can ignore them......
Think he's worried about re-election?

They may not be able to overthrow him, but if the people are not behind him it will cripple his war effort. The fundamental reason the Italians were so ineffective during World War II, despite their formidable military on paper, was that the people were not fundamentally behind Mussolini or the Germans.

Will all of these companies also ban China and its products if they invade Taiwan?

I seriously doubt it.

Yes, of course.

If the leaders suffered as badly as the little people, the sanctions would *work*.
Don't worry about $Billionaire Putin, he and his oligarch buddies are still living high off the hog

Good points, sh76.

It is said (FOX) that Russian soldiers are putting holes in the fuel tanks of the vehicles in Ukraine, while others are giving themselves up for food.

It makes a big difference, yes. And how many Russians have been arrested for protesting, 8,000?? Jeeeezus

@Earl-of-Trumps
Well the minor pain has started here in the US, gas at 4.20 a gallon here in Allentown Pa.

I imagine that will be at 5 bucks a gallon in the near future.
I recommend people filling up at lower prices before the big increases start.
