Glenn Beck announced that there may well be big changes in conservative talk radio, essentially threatening to abandon the GOP.
We can all scoff and say it's pure demagoguery and worthless threats, but what if it happens? The GOP will not only have to fight the main street media, they will have to fight conservative talking heads from here on out.
If it happens, can the GOP survive?

What have they done for conservatives.....ever?

Yeah, I suppose you are correct. I should have said has become.
This power was created at the turn of the 20th century when Progressives amended the Constitution to give us the federal income tax. The reason they added it to the Constitution is because SCOTUS had declared it unconstitutional. As we see today, the creation of the Fed was key as well. Now the money they desire that they cannot be collected in taxation simply is printed out of thin air. They then throw this money around the world to exert power over the entire world. Then if it does not work, they use the military complex to impose "regime change".
To correct this, states need to rise up and impose a constitutional amendment to balance the federal budget. They will simply ignore it if they do, but it is a needed first step to correct the ship. States could then continue to take away federal power until the corruption we see can be curbed in a meaningful way. Another helpful amendment would be term limits. We need to flush out the poo so it not stink so bad.
Until this happens, I could care less about federal elections. They are all the same to me. My focus are state legislators. These seats are the only thing that matters now.
