No, not as a poet. He cud not play a guitar, nor could Elvis or Cash, but he invented a concept in poetry, the lyrics making no sense.
As did Picasso, painted distortion.
I have heard Dylan sold his entire song portfolio for $500 million.

Oh, and Dylan mumbled. HOW did he pull it all off. By the way, there’s no question that Ed Norton will win the Academy award for his portrayal as Pete Seeger. He nailed it. I was around in those days and definitely picked up on those personalities. Both guys really nailed it, but Ed Norton was the best.

Couldn't sing either, I hated that nasally whine of his.
But I begrudgingly admit he was a poet for the times.
I think Pete Seeger's Waste Deep in the Big Muddy captured the Vietnam War perfectly and helped define a generation. .
Based on an incident in 1956 where 6 Marines drowned after being ordered to cross a river with 60 lb packs in Boot Camp.
