I just cant stand these instant messenger things where people sit on a computer all day logged in typing crap to each other.

Yea i can understand kids using it but adults...?

It was useful when i was the other side of the world and wanted to chat to speak to someone but apart from that it sucks!

I love it, I have tons of people on my list, when I go around doing singing tours, I meet alot of people, and I give out my MSN, And I get to talk to chat to people from all over the world, whoever and whenever I want, Also my flying club uses Messenger, and the Chess Club I used to belong to, I even talk to "supposedly" Akobian Varuzhan once in a while. Just now starting to do bussiness on MSN messenger too, I hate talking on the phone

Hey I dont have people constantly messaging me, I keep everyone blocked, and only talk to the ones I want, you dont have to stay online, whereas a mobile they can be annoying by calling every day.

E-mail is so 90's, IM takes the lead

its almost as tedious as finding a debate forum which provides an arena for the most part serious topics, being filled up with threads which really should have found a home in a geek forum.

For people who for one reason or another are housebound it must be a blessing.

I use it at work. It's better than email for sending quick snippets of code or small files back and forth. I think the kids do more messaging with their phones than online. But I don't know for sure.
