2024 should have been a good year for the Democrats, especially in the Presidential election. Trump was a known quantity, and not very popular. Despite some recent off year election wins, the core problems for the Democrats remain. The party is primarily made up of a loose coalition of groups such as environmentalists, pro-choice reproductive advocates, labor leaders, women's rights activists, sexual and racial minorities. All well and good, but the operative word here is LOOSE. For example:
If the environmentalists feel their candidate isn't green enough, many will stay home and not vote.
If the pro-choice group feels their candidate isn't abortion friendly enough, many will stay home and not vote.
If the labor leaders feel their candidate isn't strike minded enough, many will stay home and not vote.
If the feminists feel their candidate isn't female friendly enough, many will stay home and not vote.
If the gays and lesbians feel their candidate isn't gay friendly enough, many will stay home and not vote.
- and the list goes on.
This short-sighted way of thinking ignores the fact that things will be considerably worse for them should
a republican be elected. Bill Clinton was 100% correct back in the 90's when he said: "Getting Democrats
to agree on a course of action is like herding cats"
My fellow Democrats: I want us to succeed in our quest to further our agenda, but attacking the GOP for their many mistakes isn't going to be enough to keep us in power. Love them or hate them, Republicans are more disciplined than us when it comes time to supporting their candidates and making sure, they vote - even if they don't get everything they want. Maybe it's time for us to do the same! 🙂
@mchill saidHopefully, the line in the sand is becoming more clear, not more faded.

Even some MAGA firebrands like Marjorie Taylor Greene have experienced the epiphany of clarity.
@mchill saidI think the Dems need to take up the mantle of fiscal responsibility that was widely popular in the 90s but Republicans abandoned in favor of big government with George Bush and Donald Trump.

It's not easy to sell to a largely distracted public but just reiterate over and over that the billionaire's used their tax break from trump to buy government bonds and now they are charging taxpayers 5% to service tens of trillions in debt, all caused by Republicans.
@mchill saidHmmmmm. Let’s watch libs ferret out Mchills key platforms:

Environmentalist, pro-choice, reproductive advocates, labor leaders, women’s rights, sexual, and racial minorities feminist, gays, and lesbians,…as McHilll says, the list goes on? Yuck.
Not a word about growing the economy?
Anybow, just saying a fun thread to watch. They will get lesbians their place!!!!
@AverageJoe1 saidAll of those you mention are what people are concerned about, especially Trump's ignorance of them.

The economy? In a righteous world, that will look after itself, especially if the rich keep their fat fingers out of it. "Pig stain on your fat chin."
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
-- 1 Timothy 6:10, KJV
Let it go, Joe, let it go. You'll be much happier, and might possibly grow some empathy.
@Suzianne saidMany will misunderstand or misapply ‘empathy’. In the ‘Someone Please..’ thread, should everyone drop what they are doing and concentrate on the down-and-out farmer’ who did not do as well as the wealthy farmer? Should they ignore the wealthy farmer who is piling up corn for the community, give him hell for his wealth?

Yes,, we all have empathy, and a need to help in needs of others. We choose from our own experiences where we can do the most good. Like, I personally would have no empathy for people who join up behind a big labor leader. That is not my thing.. Nor is a lot of the stuff in that list above. So you say that to not subscribe to that makes a person not empathetic. I don’t follow.
Shame you are down on growing the economy. Most would want a land of opportunity for their children?.
@Suzianne saidBut which is more impt? Feminism or the Economy?

@wildgrass saidYou say above that the “””Republicans abandoned fiscal responsibility in favor of big government””””.

Suzianne, posts like this render THIS post and all your other posts basically impotent. Read CHAT:
The Democratic Party generally favors a larger role for government, while the Republican Party generally favors a smaller role for government
I am just trying to help. Everyone gets mad at me, and at Trump.
@AverageJoe1 saidYeah but the "generally favors" part of that sentence at least at the federal level only applies pre-2000. Ever since then they've spent like drunk sailors and completely ignored the issue of who's going to pay for all the stuff.

Who expanded Medicare? Republicans. Who got us into a trillion dollar unwinnable and unfunded war in the Middle East? Republicans. Who bailed out the banks? Republicans. Who locked us down during COVID? Republicans. Who passed the COVID relief funding that gave out free money like candy? All Republicans. All the time.
They also dont like to pay for stuff. Obama spent 8 years working on deficit reduction only to have trump triple it in 3 years.
Yeesh..are you even paying attention Joe?
@AverageJoe1 saidThe WORD is REPAIRING the absolute damage to our country AND economy and you DAMNED RIGHT we will say EXACTLY that.

Trump did his TACO thing again, first doing huge tariffs to China but when he found out China actually has the stuff to fight back, all of a sudden OOPS, lets talk about it.
BRRUUCK BRUUCK, Chicken TACO.
Making enemies of FKING CANADA? Talks about bombing Mexico? Those WERE our biggest trading partner but not any more because Trump is a flaming IDIOT who knows ZERO about foreign negotiations, he runs them as a BULLY thinking countries will just cave in to his depravity.
Guess what, They DON'T CAVE. TRUMP is the one caving, caving to Putin, caving to Xi.
Trump is all but a Russian asset.
@wildgrass saidNot a student of this conundrum, the subject of who “spends the most” since, say, 1975, will never be fully resolved….we don’t know, too many factors, can’t find it In any searches.

BUT you CAN find the paragraph of ChatGPT and of Wiki and a lot of places saying…….you guessed it……Dems favor big govt, WGrass. You just pickin a fight
@AverageJoe1 saidFiscal responsibility is what I was talking about. The deficit has exploded in size exactly three times in my adult life. The first was Reagan, the second was George Bush and the third time trump did it on an epic scale. At no point did Bush or trump even pretend to try to pay down the deficit.

Obviously all three were Republicans and they had the support of Republicans while they exploded the deficit.
Meanwhile, the boring, no fun brigade Democrats have to swoop in and attempt to clean up the mess every time. All the whole Republicans blaming democrats for a problem created by Republicans.
@sonhouse saidThese are not my type of subjects. Not interesting. Inflammable!!!! Never resolved! They go nowhere. This question here can be interesting and go somewhere!

Here’s one. Marauder says that if a man decide to be a woman, he can put on a dress and be a woman. OK now then I have a question along those lines if a guy from Kansas, who is obviously very Irish let’s say, puts on a sombrero, does he become a Mexican?
