In this day and age, does it really matter if your country has a "negative" view by the world ?

I tend to think it does not matter as a country will always do whats best in it interests.

Do you think this holds if what's in its best interests is cooperation?

Indeed it doesn't. Particularly the views of the common person can
only trascend if they put A LOT pressure on the level that it does
matter and that is the business community and the governments.

If someone is doing good business and good deals with Iran and
Israel, the reality is that what 'John Doe' thinks matters nothing at all.

The fact that Canada comes out top shows how worthless this survey is.
What the hell has Canada ever done?

She's even above the EU. Damn

What has Canada done? Not much. That's the whole point.

The US could learn a lesson from that.

Interesting, but I still don't trust poll statistics which depend so much on subjective opinion (It all depends so much on how the questions are worded as well).

Therefore, I wouldn't judge a country based on opinion polls.

I think the poll is about influence today, not a half century ago.

maybe we are inflencing some people by not trying to engineer the world to our way of life. judging by our immigration stats i think a lot of people would agree.

Free healthcare.
If the US had free healthcare then people would go there instead.

Sorry, I am sure you are not, but every Canadian I have met so far was boring, uncultured 'trailer-trash'.

I am sure you are not all like that, but those are the ones i met outside of Canada, ie travelling, what are the ones like that have never left the place?

i'm sorry that you have had that experience, really. i don't think that canadians are all that different than other nationalities but conditions
within any country affect greatly the mindset of the populace. perhaps our left leaning liberal attitude is the problem. i know it is for me. "responsibility" is now deamed a four letter word. for one thing i would compare our crime stats with any other country our age. at least our national pasttime isn't murder as it is in at least one i can think of.

Well logically I would think that co-operation is the best course of action, but in reality I think their are always external forces which dictate a countries direction / actions

Sorry to hear that, I have had the opposite experience.

Most Canadians I have met have been chilled and relaxed people. When I went to Canada (a few times) I have always found the people to be nice and not boring.

Posts like this make me wish Hitler didn't punch over his weight back in the Forties.

Do you honestly think we live in this country solely because of the free healthcare? Who told you that, the large mass of boring, uncultured Canadians you've met travelling? God, you're such an expert. I hold you in such high regard!

People are people on matter where you go. There are so-called boring, uncultured slobs in every country, just like there are ignorant snobs in every country. Don't be such a moron.
