I had an interesting thought earlier. I was examining a stain that i have on one of my teeth and for a moment i had a strange thought. Upon realizing that my body is ageing (im 26 so im only really starting this process so excuss the wierdness of this reaction) i, for some reason thought 'well, i'll have to get a new body'.

Yes i know what your thinking, 'what's this guy been smoking?' Well, i have to agree it's wierd but as i said, it was only for a second.

But it got me thinking. Suppose it was possible for me to transplant my consiousness into another body. Would i still persue the same things that i do know? If i was transplanted into a body that was over weight, would i remain over weight or would my new body respond to my expectations of it? I used to play rugby, would my experience of my own capabilities in my old body, cause a change in my new body when i try to perform to my previous physical limitations/strengths?

Your thoughts 🙂

I know this is not what you're talking about, but you get an entirely new skeletal system about every 4 months or so. You also regenerate other body tissues so in a way you are getting a new body. That is why it is so important to stay active and eat right as you are feeding your new body.

I would never... ever trade in this "temple of God" for a regular body!

<snark>

I am big into Science Fictions. As you (probably) know, that is the question we will all face eventually. Whether to do "designer" change using genetic modification and fractation. Whether to grow a designer body and move into it.

The problem is that the mind... whatever it turns out to be, will be and is subject to the great ruler of the universe. Entropy. Your thoughts? While you are still capable? Reaching that "old" age of 26 and all?

SVW falls off the chair laughing/groaning over not being able to quite remember the jubilant exuberence of a baby-like-body only 26 years old.

Yeh ok, i expected some old scrooge to 'snark ' at my not so mid-life, mid-life crisis 😛

As for designer body's, im not sure thats what i had in mind but i guess it's the same thing. For a split second, i actually felt like my body was a vessel, and not just 'me'. I found that split second of seperation quite exciting. It was as if i had previously exsisted outside of my body and i had just remembered, really wierd sensation. To imagine exsisting inside another body is quite mind blowing, as we live and die on a timer that is kept by our bodys. If you can change body, the concept of death becomes blurred, our consiousness becomes eternal.

Sorry. Don't mean to make small of yer aged bodies lack of oldness.

All aging is evil. It means that our parents didn't love us. They deliberately brought us into an inescapable condition of inevitable death.

But that is another story.

Just don't forget that The Mind... the one true great mystery... is surely subject to entropy. Unless you know some physics, that prolly means not much. If you do know some physics, you will want to die in your due course. At least I do.

If your talking about the fourth dimensional world of quarks and sub-atomic particles, i have a limited understanding. The concept of matter turning into energy and back again at 'will' and all sorts of wierd stuff like that. I find it fasinating but wouldn't claim to understand it. I must admit, im not firmiliar with the word. 😕

When i think about my exsistence, i think of myself as being made up of particles that exsisted as something else before i was concieved. The mind however, isn't. Was it created in the second i was born, or was it created in the big bang???

I have kind of a hard position on time ... then and now... and energy. I can't and won't believe in time travel/existence other than "now".

But I'm just a redneck. What do I know?

Been wrong too many times to deny any possibility.

As to you being something else before. That is guaranteed. You are made of fused matter from a Super Nova. There is no other mechanism. Maybe what you are feeling is a mind memory of the billions who died when their solar system went nova?

From a billion years away? Forward in time. I allow the technology that might populate the galaxy from that. But only in a time arrow forward.

Like it matters what I "Allow". <laughs out loud>

Back to the original subject...

I guess your new body better have the same metabolism as before, or perhaps you'd never get that extra fat off. You also might want to do the old things you were good at, and find your reflexes are slower (or faster) with the new body?!

I can't crank on you for only being 26... I was very depressed at 25 myself. I also have lost track of my age... last year or so I was talking with friends and said I'm 33, my wife to be quickly pointed out I was really 35. I was rather depressed again!

I'm doing ok, I look younger than I am... but none of us can dodge time forever!

Specially not Sox fans... Time... Time!... the fusion of it and us!

Sorry... spaced it for a minute... Went to cut 3 on Dark Side Of The Moon... Ain't Pink Floyd somethin'?

Where was I? Eh?.... where? Earth? What? eh?...

I'm getting too spaced out for this... er... too old for this.

Or, if mind/body is one like matter/energy, particle/wave, you might be between rock/hardplace.

I sense a certain dichotomy in your position.

If you were transplanted into Anna Nicole Smith's body, you might have to cut back on the rugby. Or maybe not?

Isn't our metabolism regulated by the mind? I have to think that it is, therefore, when i move to my new body, won't i govorn that bodies metabolism also?

I guess weight problems are all in the mind 😉

Hell no. I would go to Utah and have sex with an old fool.🙁😕😀

<edit> Nevermind. Just realized that Ana Nicole whatever was a gold digging Democrat. In that case... I would kill myself as a point of honor! <smirk>

I think your new body is designed by about three hours of clicking options on the internet. Be careful.

When they passed out the ears, I thought they said Beers.... and said "I'll have two great big uns'"

When they passed out the brains, I thought they said Pains... and said "No thanks". You see?
