New York has 1/4 of the total Coronavirus cases in the US, yet 1/3 of the deaths. Why is it that New York has such a high death rate? Did New York experience a healthcare system failure?

Certainly not the kind that puts covid people nack into nursing homes. Certainly not the kind the puts people on ventilators before it is required.

Perhaps they are not putting covid people into nursing homes. Perhaps they are not killing people be ventilating patients who do not need it.

In New York a person with covid is 2.7 times more likely to die compared to covid patients in Texas.

Probably even higher since in Texas they have not tested nearly as many people.

How do you know they don't return Covid-19 patients to nursing homes? How do you know they don't use ventilators?

New York is densely populated. Texas is wide open and thinly populated.

So death rate is based on population density not medical care.

Remember, death rate is not dependent on population size. The ratio takes pure numbers out of it.
5 deaths from 500 cases is the same death rate as 500 deaths from 50000 cases.
