Is there a mainstream news outlet that is not a propaganda outlet for our governments? Obviously if there is a state owned news outlet it will be a puppet show run by the government.
But even in places where news outlets are privately owned, they are owned by big money. Politicians in general are bought and paid for representatives of these big money individuals.
Government is the mode to manage society.
Is there a news outlet that is not run by either government or big money?

Yes - The tightwad gazette!

@eladar saidWhat you're describing is basic capitalism. Maybe the PBS news hour comes the closest to the ideal you describe, because the business model doesn't depend on ad revenue, but it's still funded by doners.

All the rest of the news is run by advertisers and ratings (viewers). The more eyeballs the better.
@wildgrass saidPBS gets federal funding (indirectly) and is an extremely left leaning news source.

You’ve got things like Ground News.
Not 100% objective, but it gives you a percentage of right to left wing media reports on the subject and informs you if there is a right- or left-wing bias to be found in the report.
The BBC is very good, unless it is UK related matters.
Reuters is usually quite objective.
@shavixmir saidThey are all little more than Pravda. The West has adopted the Russian model.

@eladar saidOk. So you started a thread with a topic worth debating. That's good.
PBS gets federal funding (indirectly) and is an extremely left leaning news source.
And major networks will have their own set ideology, be it left, right or center.
That won't matter if it is government owned or private.
But......you drifted into talking about a network that you label as far left. May be true or false.
But you have morphed your original topic into something else.
Would you like to rethink your thread title ?
@eladar saidNo, not in this country. Not mainstream anyway. Here are a couple of suggestions from me.

@eladar saideladar - I was just joking! The tightwad gazette went out of print years ago.
So no mainstream sources.
If you're looking for 2 publication that fact checks their sources most thoroughly, I'd suggest. 1 The Wall Street Journal 2. The Atlantic.
I would also add that just because a mainstream media source publishes a story, does not automatically mean it's a lie. .
@eladar saidA great post. Not to advocate ‘business’, but the news of Bloomberg, Wall street journal, Forbes, Reuters, et al are all about facts, which affect us all, so for facts, you would get the most reliable news from these sources. I have it in front of me right now.

You get here a feel for where the wind is blowing. And if they do have to bring up conflicting situations, they do it in a believable way, not mean-spirited nor opinionated. Facts are key.
And Lord, they dont prattle on about masks. That’s been done dont you think. You will finduseful stuff with these outfits.
Good post.
